That was a cracking write up Graeme, if i can find a couple of spares i will send them to you for refurb
Side note i have checked the part number for the anti sink sphere seal and citroen seem to list it as unknown, any ideas where i can get it or if the old part number has changed ??
Part number i have 96 085 784 and it is the 4.5 mm one

I have some seals 3.5mm, 4.5 mm and 1 6.5 mm along with seals for the hydraulic pump.
The 3.5 mm ones a dirty, some have been used but there are a couple of new ones the 4.5's and the others are new.
If you wanted them I can post them down.

Re: Once Again I Own A Xantia
Kenny you are an absolute star, thank you so much.
Going to need some advice from you learned lot again......
I am going to get a trolley jack and a pair of axle stands tomorrow, happy to crack the rear spheres but i really hate doing the anti sink one, being that far under the car gives me the shivers, always did, i set the car on low with axle stands under the rear and it kinda nose dives with the front end on the ground and the rear up in the air.
What type of axle stands should i be looking at, and i know this is going to be stupid but if i get the stands with cross split in them can i use them on the jacking point ?

Re: Once Again I Own A Xantia
Know how you feel about working some way under the car. Best to work with several means of support.
Get hold of a couple of stout ramps, as well as axle stands (two pairs if preferred), and use both to support the rear end of the car. "Belt-and-braces"!
As you say, car must be on Lowest before going underneath, on level ground, front wheels chocked.
Axle stands can be used under the jacking points, although the rear suspension cross-tube and rear subframe also offer very solid resting points.

Re: Once Again I Own A Xantia
Just a quick update as i need some advice as usual.
Spent a very pleasant 2 hours today replacing all 6 spheres ( i hate the anti sink ) and removed all the old LHM from the tank, cleaned the filters and replaced with HydraFlush.
I have yet to bleed the brakes, that is for tomorrow, but having done Citroebics the car is behaving a little strange but i think and hope this down to the brakes needing bleeding.
It rises and lowers at the front as it should, however sometimes going from high to low and then normal the back end takes what seems like an eternity to rise, maybe over a minute.
I have moved the car forward about 5 feet just to see if there are any leaks but fingers crossed nothing so far.
Just as a side note i will post pics of the LHM that was taken out of the tank and i am not joking when i say that i have removed cleaner engine oil from a car.
Have not yet looked at the brakes but i am pretty convinced the old LHM has not been helping them.
Should have taken pics of the Filters before and after but i have removed small ant size black clumps of debris from them

The bottle on the left looks almost as bad as the transmission fluid that came out of Mandrakes' previous Xantia V6!

I promise hand on heart the one on the left came out of the LHM tank, dreading to see how bad the stuff is that comes from bleeding the brakes, that will not have gone through the filters

Don't leave that stuff lying around in those bottles, kids have been known to take a swig and come to some real harm.
