completely 'with you' on the points about quality Jim, but I think that in many cases the general public, myself included, are completely ignorant of how well things are made; as long as it works when they plug it in and performs the task asked, which may often relate to only occasional use; that's fine.
I did see the post about the audio leads, but not knowing the difference between 'sheathed and 'unsheathed' and what that means in practice, it was meaningless to me.... [which is probably not a good thing].
I also feel that most of the stuff we buy in the UK tends to originate from China.
Any progress with the Ka preservation?

Yes! I await slightly better weather and a welder... Then she'll be back in the land of the living...
Can't wait... I'm missing her, the fun little toy she is

That looks like a screened CAT6 network cable Steve but it's a great illustration of a good quality screened cable

If one day you don't learn something - check your pulse!
Now, back to shipping stuff from China: some time ago, I bought a replacement for the cigar lighter in the C15, on line from China; it was absurdely cheap (about £2.50 iirc) with free p&p. It duly arrived (not one of a million in a container, but) in a "Jiffybag" bearing a Chinese franking, customs declaration & return address. Surely the postage is more than £2.50?

I knew someone would appreciate it - & had a shrewd idea who that would be.

that's how the stuff we buy from China arrives, we don't spend much and prices inc postage are often in the 99p ish bracket. I guess the postal rates out there must be very low indeed.
