Blog or not, move if you wish Mods.

Anyway, the outer skin has a bigger hole than initially thought, it will still be relatively easy to make the repair plates but I will do them in three parts rather than two so I can work around the fuel pipes (moved but not disconnected) when welding.

I would think another 6-12 months without this being cut out would have killed this car as it would have got under the subframe mounts.

This photo shows the hidden side of the photo above, looking forward and extending under the fuel lines (at the bottom of the pic) which have been moved out of the way

It just shows how insidiously rust spreads... So often doing it stealthily...

Some liken it to cancer - not a bad analogy really...

Good job you spotted it Alasdair as rust getting into the front subframe mounts is potentially quite tricky to repair well.

This is exactly what kills of many a Ka... Mine seems OK in that area but I will have to check again more carefully in light of what you've found...

Card templates all made now, it is easy with card and tape, not looking forward to the welding however :(
