Re: Electric Cars:what's available?
I believe that someone is missing the whole point of electric cars:

Re: Electric Cars:what's available?
They have to know it surely
General Motors president Mark Reuss announcing the other love of the US car buying public the pickup. This time the Electric Chevrolet Silverado pick up. He came up with this. You don't have to be a farmer to recognise what it is...
Its so revolutionary that only Tesla, Rivian and Ford are doing the same thing.
USA loves its Pick-ups, and SUV's.

The vehicles coming from Factory ZERO will change the world, and how the world views electric vehicles.
Here is the revolutionary Silverado. Lightweight, streamlined, affordable it's not.The GMC HUMMER EV SUV joins its stablemate in the realm of true supertrucks, and Chevrolet will take everything Chevy’s loyal truck buyers love about Silverado — and more — and put it into an electric pickup that will delight retail and commercial customers alike.

Re: Electric Cars:what's available?
In the possible pipeline.
BMW own the "Mini" brand, and there is rumour that while the Mini has morphed into a much larger vehicle, plans could be afoot for BMW to resurrect the "Minor" brand.

BMW own the "Mini" brand, and there is rumour that while the Mini has morphed into a much larger vehicle, plans could be afoot for BMW to resurrect the "Minor" brand.
Chances are high that it will be made in China via the existing partnership with Great Wall Motors, already planned to make the current Mini Electric from 2022 . With a large market segment in China for smaller vehicles and the "history" the Mini brand brings with it, it shouldn't be too difficult to create a buzz and a demand for a "Mini Minor electric".Mini Mulls Minor Model, Electric Hot Hatch And New Crossover
it makes sense for Mini to launch a smaller model that will be closer in size to the original. The best part is that it will not only try to recapture some of the original’s simplicity, but it will also probably be a pure EV.
According to Autocar, this new smaller model is expected to be called the Mini Minor, reviving a decades-old nameplate was last used on the Morris Minor (built from 1948 to 1971). The source also points out that the Minor, along with all future Minis, will ride on a new chassis architecture called FAAR that was announced back in 2017.

Re: Electric Cars:what's available?
I see there's a new range of cars to be launched based on existing electric vehicles.
"Matchbox is launching a series of toy cars based on real-life electric vehicles and making some using recycled materials as part of a global relaunch.
The first will be a mini version of the Tesla Roadster and will be followed by other models along with scaled-down charging stations."
"Other Matchbox cars being launched will be based on electric and hybrid vehicles made by Nissan, Toyota and BMW. The Tesla Roadster will be the first die-cast model made from 99% recycled materials and will go on sale next year."

Regarding the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV Cabriolet Concept, it will be sold in Europe with the larger battery pack offered to the affordable EV, with 13.8 kWh. Made with LFP cells, it is said to present a 200 km NEDC range. The top takes less than 5 seconds to completely retract where the conventional Mini EV has its rear seats.

Re: Electric Cars:what's available?
Great Wall's Ora all-electric brand causing a stir at the Shanghai motor show with their Punk Cat prototype
https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... 09#p683109
This is another product in their stable, not available in the UK, but a cheap small 4 door EV.
In other words a car more likely to be accessible to a lot of people, than anything currently being produced or available in the European Market. You obviously cant count the A segment offerings from VW/Skoda/Seat bordering on £20,000 or even the Dacia Spring if it comes in at £15,000. Its perfectly possible right now to produce a city EV for under £10,000. Its being done already.
See what you think. Hope you can get used to the presenter...anything but shouty and loud, maybe a touch monotone but gives a thorough enough review.
From Fully Charged's Man in China.
and if you can cope another new model from Great Wall's Ora Brand, another tremendous value EV

Re: Electric Cars:what's available?
I've just watched those two videos and I was quite impressed with the Good Cat !! I like the green with white roof and I could certainly live with the interior in sensible colours. If they do bring it to the UK in the £10-14k range I just might get interested, certainly to at least have a test drive!!
