Nothing wrong with a ramble, as long as it takes you somewhere nice.

James, that's very true ;)

What you're doing with the 206 is good :D A bit like me putting leather seats in Gabriel, a very basic Xantia! It makes a heck of a difference...

I wish I could find some decent, comfy seats for my 207... They're like sitting on paving slabs  Spoils the whole car....

Having now driven the 206 with the CC steering wheel I can honestly say I'm shocked by the difference it's made to the whole feel of the car  there just feels so much more "information" through the wheel compared to the rubber one, probably not helped by that delaminating thing PSA steering wheels like to do where the rubber comes loose from the metal rim inside. It took some time to find one, as (I suppose unsurprisingly) the 'wheel and gearknob, as well as those nice alloy effect interior door handles of which we finally have 4, seem to be amongst the first things to vanish when a CC ends up on the pile.

Those 207 seats are nice but still look very firm & flat, I actually don't find the low-spec 206 seats all that bad save for the backrest adjuster being the spring loaded lever type thus never being able to find the perfect place. OK I know GTi seats would still fail to address that issue too but at least I could be slightly uncomfortable in better style than blue cloth with rotted stiching! (I wonder if Xantia/XM/405 front seats would be hilariously massive inside the 206? haha might have to get the measuring stick out).

I know before I ever bought a set of 207 seats from the 'bay I'd have to sit in them first... I'm very demanding of seats ;)

Yes, it is. I do find the older seats a lot more to my liking... Maybe Xantia leathers would fit?

I'll have to do a bit of measuring up and see where we are, it'd be nice to have proper adjustment if they would look right. That said, 206 GTi leather isn't too expensive if we can find a set close enough to collect. Best I've done so far was Lincolnshire for 95 but they were a bit far.

Today's instalment sees me rolling under the Xantia and inventing new words & phrases to describe the person who fitted the exhaust by welding it into one piece under the car... OK it's a nice solid way of doing it and means no joints to leak but what a pain when I come along and decide to drop the system to weld up a couple of small holes! Plus side, still nothing seized to tackle & it's lovely and quiet now.

Here's crossed fingers for being able to take it for a nice leisurely drive tomorrow afternoon :D

Thanks, no reason it shouldn't fly through this time, though there's always that nagging doubt as I'm sure you know :)

Very sweet and very very leisurely I feel that drive will be.

I do have a quick question for you actually, as I have a pair of extra front spheres to fit but the ones fitted are OK too, am I right in thinking they are the same pressure as the accumulator? And if so, is it possible to remove the damping disc without exploding the thing per chance?

I ask since I seem to remember something similar with the XM, and it could really use a better acc. Sphere as its on sub-15 second ticks at the moment so if I can modify one I have already that would be helpful.

No, the front spheres are lower pressured than the accumulator. Also, as you know, they have damping elements and these must not be used as an accumulator unless removed. That can be done by skimming them off in a lathe...

The accumulator is 62 bars. I know what the XM thought is about: that of replacing the main accumulator with a front centre hydractive suspension sphere. That can be done as that one is an accumulator (i.e. without damping elements) and is 10 bars higher in pressure and 100cc bigger in volume.

In my experience it makes no difference on a good, healthy Xantia hydraulic system...
