Fitted to fords as well as per the list and that youtube view of the engine bay is virtually identical. Didn't look at S-Max or the Volvo candidates or the peugeots, but the views of C5 engine bays that I found didnt look much like that.
Just going off that inlet manifold's application list of vehicles may narrow the field down too much. This lot from the ford stable also sported their version of the 2.0HDi including mondeos and focuses. That could well be the territory for the ID of the dumbell conversion/strut brace/orange hose.
Inspired by Zel's buried car I remembered the story of 'Miss Belvedere' which is worth a watch. The whatsthisthen is a whosthisthen on this one. Can you name the big fella with the white baseball cap at the unveiling?
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!
Try this one but don't expect an answer from me. it was parked outside my old friends house and I should know but it really has me scratching my head, can't recall him having a car like that.

That's a negative I'm afraid!
Researched, after rejecting a number of oklahoma's finest celebrities, and a former ice-hockey player with a beard who's name happens to be the same as the guy from Unity-one mentioned on the film......I came up with

I used to enjoy his show American Hot Rod until the last series when it started getting a bit silly. Mike who was his computer controlled fabrication man has since appeared on Overhaulin with Chip Foose who did once work with Boyd Coddington himself. Then Charlie, Boyd's protege and head bodywork man left under a cloud to do a one off paint job for Chip Foose's Sima car and then set up his own bodyshop back in his home State. The series went downhill from then when they set about building a race car for Boyd's wife Jo to drive at Bonneville and things just didn't go to plan. He died not long after that but left behind a design legacy and a number of craftsmen in the auto building industry.

We had a bit of a go at that one back in 2018 and didnt reach a definite conclusion. Managed to get your similar vintage 1/4 of a headlight covered in snow Austin 3-Litre though! This was my last effort on it at the time, but of course we now have Mick to cast his eye over it

I thought you might be close then Neil, I recall he had a Chevette for a company car for a while, a closer look though the rear is different, number plate below the bumper and 'Vauxhall' in the place where the number plate is on the mystery car.
I'll have to get in my time machine and go sweep the snow off.
Can't quite nail your white car in the snow Gibbo. As Bobins said could be from the Datsun/Nissan Cherry stable, maybe one of the later versions than the 100A, from the early/mid 80's some of which did have the 2 double trim lines/coachlines down the side eg
I've had a good look at snowy and it seems that I may have dropped off twice in the same day ! Not long after I'd sold my Renault Fuego I needed another car for rallying as the RS rebuild was taking its time. So I bought myself a Talbot Samba Rallye, and guess what or should I say see what you think:

Most of it does fit in with one of these as suggested by Bobins, but not the upper coachline. Cant find a picture anywhere of a Datsun 100A with the upper coachline. Maybe it was a special edition thing. Also the 100A does look to me to be a little too curvy in the rear panel, compared to the picture.

The rear wheel arches don't match Gibbo's photo. Gibbo's are properly rounded, the Talbot is squared off.
How right you are!! In fact the rear roof line is probably a tad too high as well so Samba is a reject!! I seem to be having a poor day today so I think I'll quit before I sink myself completely. I am suffering with a sciatic pain which I do get from time to time so its Radox and bed for me. Night all!
