I know of somebody who has such serious back problems (and has had them for a very long time) that the medication she has been prescribed has shortened her life (by about 10 years), and her attitude to this is something like "rather 40 reasonable years than 50 hellish ones". She also has 5 plants growing all the time, and her doctor has explained to the local police what the benefits are for her. An intelligent senior officer has said that as long as there are only 5 plants (and it is only for her personal medicinal use) they will turn a blind eye. Apparently a different senior officer disagreed, and for a very short while she was not able to make use of this resource. It took a visit from the prat (with her doctor, who dragged the prat out to her) for this to be reversed, as they got to see what her life is like without that support the plant gave her.

Her back problem is known to the local taxi firms. If she approaches a taxi rank that has a hydro-pneumatic Citroen in it, it will be pulled out for her to use. If there isn't a Citroen in the rank they will get on the radio and call one up.

Like that one James. I often wonder if my mother would have benefited from using it, not that she would have.

I have tried it long ago and abandoned it as it had no effect whatsoever, other than it was blamed for causing severe migraine.

Mike, my mate is defo NOT out of touch.
A 54 year old Rastafarian being out of tough with what is and what is not good or bad weed ?....I don't think so.
Skunk is grown for "bomb" strength not for a good "high", it is quick acting, massively strong and THC levels are very strong.
Medical use would need a good long term but light high I would think, not a massive hit from a SkunkBomb.

Good quality Hash is certainly hard to find and that's why I said find a good dealer. Quality is often hard to find for most things and it is true for dope as well.

Gateway drug ?, not as simple as that, if factors such as age are taken into account then the reverse is in fact true.

IF you do go for a experiment, please do not get that home grown skunk S-h-i-t.......get some nice good quality Hashish from a "good" dealer not a street drone....they sell the RedStripe version of weed, all chemicals and forced.nasty smelly brain bomb stuff.

errr............so I was told by a friend
Your friend is a bit out of date. My friend told me it is pretty hard to get good quality hashish anywhere now. I'm led to believe there's nothing wrong with home grown "skunk" (though, I'm also told, by an indoor gardener whom I , er, used to know, er , it's simply weed grown without any outside impurities at all, so of course it's going to be "better". The gardener I, er, used to know, used to grow theirs in soil, in big pots, with nothing more than a lamp and standard plant feed, and very good it was too..so I'm told)

It's a shame Jon Snow didn't smoke some common-or-garden bush first, before he tried the skunk. As a non-partaker, I'd wager that he'd have suffered a similar effect from both.

I'm not getting into a row about this here but this is factually incorrect. I don't care who your friend knows, it's the usual scaremongering Daily Wail nonsense. There's so many varying factors to deal with, parts of plant used (fashion is now to smoke the buds and tops for example, with its much higher THC - but lower CBD content. This wasn't the case 30 years ago..) Good hashish will have as much THC as "skunk" anyway.. and still be cut with all sorts of dust and crap.

I could go on but I won't.

I wouldn't have a clue what would be good and what would be poor quality. I wouldn't want to smoke it either, and would probably need lower quantities than those using it for recreational use. If it was legalised as a medicine presumably it would come in a tablet form. Can't see the prescription saying smoke two spliffs four times daily, must be smoked before or along with food. Warning may cause drowsiness, if affected do not drive or operate machinery. [emoji3]

You'd want to take it before food... ;)

There are medicines that simply take the active pain suppressing bits but not the bits that make you "high".

You'd probably want a vaporiser and a little bit of decent weed. I'd not recommend eating it in cakes, it's bad enough for a hardcore stoner doing that, it'd be safe, but it's much harder to regulate the amount when you eat it, cos once you've swallowed it... you've a hour to 90 min wait before it starts taking effect as you digest it, then it just gets stronger and stronger and suddenly you've been sat on the sofa for 9 hours watching Withnail and I 4 times in a row and ran out of biscuits and teabags....

I just sit (or lie) on the sofa 9 hours at a time with biscuits and coffee, so nothing much would change [emoji23]
There is actually a very good reason that I haven't already gone down this route. I have a highly addictive nature, and when my first wife f***ed off with my best mate and I got paid off 2 days later I spent 9 months consulting Dr vodka every day, sometimes more than once. I do attend meetings, which is one reason I do many miles when not working, i'm geographically challenged and it's at least a 44 mile round trip, twice a week. I'm terrified of starting a new addiction which could put me on a slippery slope.

Knowing exactly where you're coming from Davie, as I have a similarly addictive nature, wise words...

I'm still addicted to all sorts of things...

Have to agree with this, that said Dr Vod and his liquid friends are very nasty beasts in comparison

Better safe than sorry. Saying that, my friend is also somewhat addicted to acceptable days rather than agony filled ones. She is, however, careful to manage her resources, as she is limited on the amount she can cultivate.

I agree with that, but from experience I'd say that as long as you take it without mixing it with tobacco, you should be ok. There's a psychological element of addiction to it, but it's nowhere near as bad as nicotine habit. I struggled to give up smoking tobacco for a long time. When I decided I didn't want to smoke the old green any more, I just stopped. Simple as that.
