Boost controler advice please

Unread post by bennett »

Hi
Im new to the forum and i own a mk1 xantia activa turbo.

I'm after some advice on what type of manual boost controler/valve to get for the xantia?

Is there any type that i could get second hand off of another car that would work sufficiently?

Cheers any help on what to look for and where would be a great help

Thanks
Ian

Hi Ian, is it a green R plate you have?

The one is use is very similar to this -

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/POWERTEK-BOOST-CO ... 936wt_1165]Powertek Boost Controller

If you want a better made one but more expensive, i recommend this -

mechanical Boost Controller

Simply remove the hoses from the standard controller and fit onto the new one (pointing the right direction) Leave the original controller tucked away with its multiplug still connected.

Make sure you have a boost gauge, obviously.

Best boost is around 12psi, my S2 is a bit sensitive to boost spikes over this and throws a code, the S1 may be less so. An initial spike of around 1- 1.5psi is acceptable, most controllers do this.

Where abouts in Norwich are you usually? I've seen 2 other Activa's here, both green although one less now as i sold the other to a chap on here!

Its a red N plate, i live near wymondham if you know it, so not quite in norwich.

hopefully i will try and get bits needed over the next week, i will let you know how i get on with it

just out of interest, are the 2.0 xantia activa turbos rare in the uk, not seen many around?

Thanks again

Yep drive through it sometimes. If you get stuck your more than welcome to pop over, i also have a boost gauge for setting it up.

They are a rare beast, the S2 more so because so few were imported. Decent ones are hard to find and most end up getting broken for Pug engine donors.

Luckily, this forum and its members is a goldmine of information and help, at some point i would like to see an 'Activa' meet like they do in France to raise the profile of these cars.

Have you got any pictures you could post?
