It's quite a skill to get good running photos I'm told and certainly I've seen some variable quality ones but this one was well on top of the task to the extent of being hidden well enough not to be aware we were being photographed :)

I'm very pleased with that particular photo, all the better for being caught unawares!

He was off for another session with the main dealer yesterday... I'll ask him later today of any progress...

I bought a new seat for Polly today :D
Screenshot_20231213_143401_Amazon Shopping.jpg
I'm spending more and more time with the little one and it's becoming a bit of a faff to keep swapping car seats between my and her mum's car so it was best I got one to keep in Polly...

We tried out this contraption today in Salcey Forest...
IMG-20231213-WA0003.jpg
It did not meet with Autumn's full approval... She hates being confined, either in this, a buggy or a car seat...

Just like her mum when she was Autumn's age...

Autumn is walking well now but she's not quite up to a hike around the forest just yet...

 One has to be so careful with phrasing  At least Autumn will fit it until she's at least 12. That seat is a bit like a Russian doll: concentric layers of padding are progressively removed as the child grows to accommodate them... I wonder how many cars I'll have between now and when she's 12 :-k

I've also treated myself to my Christmas present... Been promising myself one for years and I've finally done the deed. Shockingly expensive but they keep you amazingly warm and dry in the most inclement of weather...
(c) Dryrobe
(c) Dryrobe
Originally designed for triathletes to change out of their wet swimsuits ahead of the bike leg without freezing to death or exposing naughty bits (which is against the rules) but now very much de rigueur at many sporting events, not least parkrun :)

Athletes are even seen wearing them whilst shopping in Tesco

What were you thinking Jim - you need one of these - an Aussie Driza-Bone!
Driza-bone.jpg
The rear of the coat is split up almost to the waist, so you can sit on a horse, and the coat will keep the rain off the back of your saddle, as well as keeping your legs dry. As to keeping your modesty - am pretty sure said rear split is equipped with press-studs, so wouldn't blow open at an embarrasing moment

Of course it doesn't have a hood, so you'd also need one of these to keep the rain, snow and sleet off:
Akubra for Jim.jpg
The Driza-Bone is oilskin and lined with a flannelette type material, so is heavy - perhaps you'd better stick with the
dryrobe :-D

What a great name Alec, but then you Aussies are good at that :) I'm thinking that can of stuff us use to start reluctant engines

I could ride my bike in the rain wearing a Driza-Bone :D There might be a weight penalty I fear and not very aero either...

They're available here in the UK but at a price... Not far off twice the price of a Dryrobe

Gosh! Child car seats are a lot more sophisticated than they were when my girls were little :)

I've just spent some time understanding how it works and how it adjusts for different child ages/sizes...

It has a very good 5-point harness :D

And a little side-protection device - the thing projecting from the side...

Clearly, a lot of thought has gone into the design of this seat...

And now winter is properly here, I'm just starting to get back into playing my guitar.. It's been ages since I have...

So long that my amp smelt very dusty when I fired it up... I was almost surprised it still works but it does and sounds beautiful, as befits a good valve Fender amp with a proper reverb tank.
20231214_175637.jpg
I was even more surprised to find my guitar, a genuine vintage Strat, was still fairly in tune  It only needed some little tweaks on the top strings to get it back on song...

I'm very rusty and I need a lot of practice...

And when I'm not playing guitar I'll be getting some morse code practice in. I'm rusty at reading that too...
