I see the knock sensor exposed there Jim - how does it look ?
Is it worth replacing it with a new one (only OEM mind) since you have the engine stripped down ?
Awfully hard to replace once its back together again...

That's true Simon... It looks fine although it was bathed in oil for a long time..

Re: Citrojim's Xantia V6, C1 and Activa Tales
Now the nights are drawing in I've installed an LED floodlight above my workshop doors that should throw a decent bit of light on any work taking place on the driveway... I'll find out this evening how effective it is.
I also have a smaller rechargeable LED floodlight on a stand for illuminating the parts the big flood won't reach...
All set up for the winter now!
My Activa is due an MOT in early October. I give her a good old check-over today and happily, no showstoppers found... I'll try to get her in on Wednesday...
It's a lovely day here so off out on my bike in a bit...

Good luck on the MOT!
They'll be seeing my Xantia down at Wrestler's before too much longer as well as she's due her MOT on November 4th, so will get it booked in for a couple of weeks from now. Good excuse to give the car a once-over at least.
...Can't believe I've had it nearly a year now...

Time flies doesn't it Zel. One really wonders where it all goes... I'll tell Steve to expect another Xantia soon after mine then
Tried my floodlight last evening after dark and it's bloody brilliant. It's going to be a real boon when working on the car on dark evenings.. Night becomes day...
These LED floods really are brilliant...

I was going to wash the cars today...
Until I found I have no car washing brushes or sponges...
All got binned during the workshop refurbish as being totally worn out and I've not replaced them...
Shows how often I was a car these days!!!

Re: Citrojim's Xantia V6, C1 and Activa Tales
You're far better off using a wash mitt, Jim, rather then the sponges. With a sponge there's nowhere for the muck from the paint to go other then being dragged along the car. With a wash mitt it gets into the mitt itself away from the paint

That's an excellent tip David... Thanks!
I shall get one of those when I go and get my new car washing kit.

I was going to clean my car today but fortunately got roped in to fixing a leaking bath at my daughter's, then the bathroom light packed up - every time I repair something there something else breaks but usually waits a couple of days.
Maybe next week then - it has been about three months now
