I believe it keeps almost indefinitely if kept tightly sealed Bobins so you should be good for a good few vehicles yet

What an utterly tremendously awesome day of fun and adventure yesterday carrying out 'Operation Xantia Rescue'
Read all about it here: viewtopic.php?p=809744#p809744
Huge thanks to Alasdair and Mick for looking after me so wonderfully and ensuring I could enjoy this adventure without stress and worry
I was pretty useless really and little more than an ornament; an absolute spare part... Huge thanks both for looking after me when I went hypoglycaemic and was, for a time, even more useless than usual
Happily, a massive biscuit and raisin Yorke Bar quickly restored my blood-sugar levels and had me feeling a lot better in a most tasty way
Ahh, the wonders of chocolate

Thanks again both, it truly was a magical day
And the flame of my Xantia love still burns strongly

Re: Citrojim's AX, Pixo, C3, Running and Cycling Tales
A busy day yesterday - getting ready for carpet fitters today... Once again, clearing a room reveals the fact I still have far too much tat here. I can see the dump being a regular destination for a few days next week
I need to minimise a lot further...
Enjoyed an absolutely sensational lunch with Bobins and Mick yesterday... One thing about we three - we'll never run out of talk! All the ingredients - great company, a great pub and great food!
Something happened to take the shine off things a just a little bit - a big quarry lorry fired a rock at Bluebell's windscreen
I'm hoping it can be repaired. It actually looks worse in the photo than it actually is... It's well on the passenger side so not an MoT issue.
I'll be in touch with the insurance and mobile fixers of these things today.
Still bloody vexing though
And it's the last thing I really want to be honest, buggering about with all this and the carpet fitting going on. I'm really not on good form at all
Any significant recovery is not happening just yet
I need a holiday...

Oh dear, bad luck Jim. Hopefully a quick chip repair will sort that.

As that stone has caused "star cracks" I would be looking at a replacement screen Jim....unless the fix includes drilling the ends of those cracks to prevent creep.
Screen replacements are easy, they turn up, do the job (easy on a AX) and bugger off.... a no stress job (assuming one can be sourced)

It is stress you can do without but let the insurance handle it.
As above, they turn up, swap screens and all is good.
Had it done on the last C5, just let them get on with it apart from making tea.

This is the one I used Jim, just a quick call and they do the rest. https://www.autowindscreens.co.uk/help- ... l-it-cost/
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Re: Citrojim's AX, Pixo, C3, Running and Cycling Tales
While it has starred it can be repaired if it is not too large (but I don't know how big is too big). I have had starred chips repaired in the past on company vehicles. The only two that could not be repaired were when one had happened in the 'black' area of the windscreen (so the technician could not determine if there was any air in the chip), and the other was multiple holes into the laminate.
I have used Optic Kleer in the past, and had good service and honest advise on each occasion.

Re: Citrojim's AX, Pixo, C3, Running and Cycling Tales
This is only thing I'd worry about,
On the 406 Coupe forum there was much discussion about replacement screen availablity and also the "trims" around the perimeter being impossible to find (normally thrown away, reuse of these is only option at present)
The AX is more "Mass market" than the coupe, so hopefully the situation is less bleak.

Adrian Flux and Autowindscreens have been brilliant and should be with me soon to do the job
Meanwhile my house has been declared a biological hazard... When the old carpets were lifted the underlay had turned to fine black powder
The dust has gone absolutely everywhere!
The carpet fitter quipped ' You'll be dusting for weeks now!'

Oh dear - that is really horrible! Do you know what it started out as?
When we were kids the underfelt at home was made from cow hair. Shame my sister was allergic to cows!

Re: Citrojim's AX, Pixo, C3, Running and Cycling Tales
We'd some 1960's "vintage" (best guess from my folks who were about then) carpet in our house when moved in, all the underlay was just like that - black dust! Hoovered up ok. Can't comment on the taste!
