Re: Citrojim's AX, Pixo, C3, Running and Cycling Tales
Oil and filter changed on Polly today...
No drama, the under-tray came off easily although I did put loads of copper grease on the bolts when I put it back on.
The sump plug has received a bit of abuse in the past... It came out tight all the way and I could see some thread damage so that'll need replacing at the next oil change.
Swapping the oil filter is a bit of a giggle on account of poor access...
There's a knack and the job is easy enough once learned. One thing I'll say in favour of these filters is how clean the job is, no oil spillage at all.
And the first time I've used a torque wrench when replacing an oil filter!
Afterwards, I took Bluebell out for a very enjoyable little warming run
Tomorrow I'll be checking the injector clamps... I need to read up how to do that... Any links will be appreciated

Yours is the later 8 valve DV6 Jim, I'm not sure you need to worry about injector nuts coming loose - thought that was just an earlier 16v DV6 foible??

If not that'll be good Matt, yes, it's the later 8 valve version...MattBLancs wrote: 14 May 2024, 23:36 Yours is the later 8 valve DV6 Jim, I'm not sure you need to worry about injector nuts coming loose - thought that was just an earlier 16v DV6 foible??
Still has the silly 'inny' sump plug though... Meaning the oil can never be completely drained!

Ah, yes the 308 (also 8 valve) will be the same. Have to decide if I am buying another, modifying and swapping the sump on that (as I did on the 206's and my previous C4's sumps) they are pretty cheap new (£20 or so)
Don't take my word as gospel on the 8 valve injector nuts being ok, that is my understanding but see what the collective intelligence of the forum thinks

£19.85 inc free postage, from a quick eBay search:

£20.68 on Autodoc for a Ridex branded one (and it's a stamped bit of sheet steel am pretty confident it'd be fine)

Yes, this has the later single bolt clamp, never heard of any coming loose, but if it's easy enough to access you could check they are tight, no harm!
Can't say I am overly worried about the sump design - collectively we have done over 500k miles in DV6 engined cars, and apart from the turbo troubles we had on our first C4 Picasso, no engine worries at all.

Like Richard I had no oil/sump issues with the C4 on mtce fleet. 130k trouble free. I did just pinch up the injector bolts on my C5 when I first had it as no 2 had been leaking before I bought it but no issue at after that!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

I'm not sure the sump pan with an 'outie' will fit mine due to that heavy bracket that tries to get in the way...
I'll do that today and put my torque wrench on them... Good to know no issues with them known or with the 'innie' not allowing a full sump drain. I guess if the oil is changed regularly - I'm doing it around every 3500 miles - it's not such a problem...RichardW wrote: 15 May 2024, 07:34 Yes, this has the later single bolt clamp, never heard of any coming loose, but if it's easy enough to access you could check they are tight, no harm!

Can you not DIY an "outie" using your hydraulic press Jim ?

I imagine the trouble with the sump plug is it has a 21mm hex, but only an M8 (?) thread, so it suffers from the gorilla syndrome problem.

That's what I did, wooden "former" on the outside, 19mm impact socket on the outside.
