Just so long as you don't have to put the boot into the engine, everything will be fine (except, possibly, the hangover!).

Yes!
Bung it in the boot and pretend you have a Porsche

I can't view the images either - could when they were first posted. I have and am signed in to a Google account.
Have you inadvertently set them to private John?

see if this works from my Google Images - Image

It'd be good to see how big the strainer is on the 163hp Diesel engine, as my plastic dipstick end broke! Good luck.

Alasdair it's completely clean !! I forgot to mention

Kenny my original engine had a broken dipstick ! I found the lower bit in sump. A weak spot i think. The mesh is maybe a 1mm grid so fear not .. I will try and grab a pic over weekend

I'd appreciate it a lot, just annoying that it's in the sump somewhere, the C5 is a superbly comfortable crusier. Great write up too.

A weekend of hard work and the new engine is back in.. went to spin it on starter but nothing and car is locked in park ..any thoughts folks? The starter inhibitor has clicked in bit I am more worried as to why .. anything a lexia can suggest tomorrow ? (Didn't have time tonight)

First check with the lexia that it thinks the transmission is in P and that the brake pedal is pressed.
