BTW, this lot above took ages to work out and I'm very happy with the results.
The 17's don't feel too rigid actually and the sharpness they add to the feel
of the immense direct steering and DIRAVI can really spoil you with anything
else. The 16's are the best everyday rims and I run a 25TRi estate on some.

I do think that some Alfa alloys really suit the CX (agree with you Andrew about the 'Selespeed' wheels), but the best that I have seen Alfa-wise are these 17s (excuse the picture quality but it's a scan):

Image

...this T1 1/2 really was a great looking car with the alloys and also the body coloured bumpers, mouldings and sills cover.
Here's a picture of it wearing some 'Mille Miglia' alloys too:

Image

...although the Alfa wheels are very nice, I do prefer my Azev's:

CGAT used to run Azev's too but they were bigger than mine pictured above.

I like those. I wonder if I could clag some on a C5 ? :)

Or possibly some T-slots?

Yes, yes put them away, the tyres cost silly money.

The florantine car may be nicer in the metal but doesn't do anything for me
all colour coded up - take the door capping off instead then and DEAR LORD,
LEAVE THE SILL TRIMS BLACK - the car looks too heavy fo me. Jury is out
on those 17's it's wearing - there's not exactly much of them to see either
and there's no real change in the cross section profile whereas the Selespeed
has a lot of shape to it - especially from the centre out on the 5 spokes.
I'm not a big fan of flat square rims/spokes.

These have a dramatic pattern and some shape about them - I have a set
of the large cloverleaf ones and they look amazing on the Cx but I'm still
not sure about them!!

Pleased to see your car wear the rear spats Franklin. It's part of what a
Cx is all about and is visually compromised with them removed to accept
bigger rims. Yes, the car will look butch and show off it's new wheels better,
yet for me, it amounts to the same thing as an Sm without it's spats - just
not done! ;)

It was a beautiful looking car when I saw it in the flesh - the pictures don't do it justice! 8-)
Being colour coded it really gave it a 'lift' and sort of modernises it too.
A previous owner of that car was also a very good mechanic and he fitted a watercooled turbo, tweaked it here and there to give a boost in performance.
Roger said to me that it was quicker than a standard Turbo, but not Maikonics standard.

...unfortunately though, I have learnt that the florentine car has been written off, but is being repared. Had black leather too. :(

Just had a look on DVLA, and it seems it's Taxed - which is brilliant news to find out!! \:D/

Yep, luckily my Azev wheels aren't "curb-crawlers" as I call them (!), and don't stick out.
That florentine car had the 'Mille Miglia' alloys fitted first and as they were curb-crawlers Roger had to modify the spats.
IIRC, he called them "Sports-Spats" as he cut enough out so they didn't catch, and it gave it a different look as it was a 'different' car.

One style of Alfa wheel that I don't like that I've seen fitted though is the telephone dial. :x

Yep, know exactly what you mean. They're the quite common 15"s aren't they?
I'm not a fan of them at all. I'd call these 16" the teledial though:

and 17" version:

The 7 hole 16" looks great in the flesh (so to speak) if a little restrained
comapred to other rims. I'd happily have a set of the 7 hole ones although
they'rw not a common sighting.

Surprised about the show through enginebay.

Thought you'd have the arch rubber splashguards on to stop crap messing
up the engine bay after your getting it into spotless shape Neil!? Did you need
to "rearrange" the inner wings on the back much or does it just settle gently
the wings onto the tyres when it's flat?

Fantastic photo's, with really nice alloys fitted.

If i decide to go for 16's, should i be getting 6j, 6.5 or 7?

I presume that i need 5 bolt rather than 4 bolt wheels?

it gets blathered in WD40 then washed off and replaced regularly.. it gets a liitle hot under there and the shields were removed to help cooling.

It had a little customising under the arches or it wouldn't roll when its flat
and it would lock the rear wheels under hard acceleration.

these have a slightly different off set to the Azev's and aren't as tight to the spats
