Yes, you're quite right, I recall now the 'coz it's worth that scrap' comment
but my mind was already reeling over the 'will break if enough interest' :(

That is one rare car - and no, it's not me selling it!

A 3litre Renault Espace! Thats an odd choice, cant be many of those around. Yes you can say it! Its a french car forum :D

Do you still have the other two cars in your sig? Xantia TD and BX?

Do you have preference to S1 or S2 Xm? Id like a S1 at one point, the interior is appealing at the momeny, though i personally prefer S2s on the whole.

As far as I know, it had the Renault version of the ES9J4 V6 (the Renault L7X) and the ZF 4HP20 autobox....

A people carrier with a bit of oooomph behind it

Was this the old style Espace, fibreglass body or something?

Did anyone see the Topgear episode where they raced people carriers. Toyota Previa, Nissan Serena, Spacewagon etc and i think they had two Espace v6s? Or one was, hammond had one.

Looks excellent fun to me, but they get a bit battered

Morning all.

Yes i do still have the Xantia Auto, it's a lovely 1 owner car, all i had to do with it was repalace all spheres, real lovely car ,(il'l try to get some pics up),
That is now the car my wife has also grown to love, so she will be keeping that
But   that enables me to flog hers and get myself an XM :D :D

As for the BX, at present that is still resting in a barn, and has been for the last 8 yrs or so, (agian pics to follow, when i can work out how to do it )

it hadn't been started at all since it was put in there, next to a mk1 of the same colour, so we took the battery off my Scania and jumped it, That turned it over, or should i say it didn't have a chioce, but after 23-30 seconds of turning away it went :D suspension came up as it should after a minute or so, and i drove it out of the barn, gave it a wash off and then it sprung an hlm leak somewhere from the rear, this was last April, so i put it back in the barn, and there it has stayed, but i have too get it recovered back to Eastbourne in the spring.

As preferance on what model Xm, none really, sad i know , but i do like the earlyer style dash, but not realy bothered....

Best way to approach it really - least you won't be disappointed if you've set
your mind on something and can't find it/the right one. So, really, any nice
Xm and you'll be chuffed then! It may help if you do select saloon/estate.
diesel/petrol, manual/auto and the mk1 or mk2 can be a polarising
preference - well it always is on club-xm! Mind, all these choices are almost
as confusing as trying to order 'just a coffee' in Starbucks...

I think the choice has to be a saloon, the estates are just as quirkey, but i love the shape of the saloon /hatch, i will not be doing a great mileage in it, then it's the question of V6 , it hasn't gone out the window entirly yet !

I'm not really bothered, just want it to be a good one , for little money

Don't we all

Morning indeed!

Im not happy this morning, im sat doing an assignment about planning and listed buildings, its snowing and ive a really bad back from falling on my backside in the ice yesterday. Anyway, must get on ....

You wont find many TD Xantias with such low mileage, that must have been quite a nice car.

Pictures of your current fleet would be good, you could start your own blog in the blogs section, especially useful when you get your Xm, so we can all have a good look at it 8-)

Sounds as though an Xm would have a good home with you, id love our white one to go to a good home. One fear is it wont and ill see it in a sorry state on ebay or something. One reason i would like to keep it! Though it gets next to no use at the moment. It has a long MOT, 3 months tax and full service history. If your interested ill try and get some recent pictures up and see if i can come to the decision to sell it :(

There is a vast variation of Xms out there, so its quite good you dont have a preference, as you can take your pick then.

In my opinion (and this has been a factor in my BX ownership), condition, history and price are deciding factors, far more than specific model/fuel type, colour or location. Obviously for some the size of an estate is important. But in the end, as these become rarer, it'll be a case of an XM is an XM. Get the best you can. If you need it to be a diesel, or in red etc. maybe look for a more plentiful model car? As a chap has said on another forum, "Are people still driving BXs in the pursuit of parsimony, or is it now enthusiasm - in which case, surely anything with the best body condition and most intact trim and equipment should be hovering at the top of the values, regardless of engine. Once rot's set in, the time to fix it surely outweighs the values of any car."

Yes, just get one of each! Our two are a bit like opposites, one is a petrol, automatic hatchback and the other a diesel manual estate. You cant go wrong then
