IMO, much better to read it rather than watch it on a Youtube. But then as you know, I'm no great fan of Youtube...

A couple more pieces of the puzzle added to my online shopping basket today: Need to unscrew the valve stem core (to allow a relatively unrestricted flow of air into the tyre to help it seat)
A bit of online research also suggests the paste not only helps with sealing but also lubricates the bead to help it travel on the rim. So goes the theory anyway!
8 quid for a pot of goo and 2 quid for the proper tool plus some new valves seems like money well spent

Don't forget new rubber valves as well, and a valve puller tool also - unless you've got tubed tyres that is !

The Erde 8" and the big trailer 10" are both tubeless - Am I right the tubes aren't road legal nowadays? Rings a vague bell I'd read that somewhere.

As I understood it when the tube subject came up a couple of weeks ago at my tyre man's, you cannot fit tubes where the car has sensors in the wheels, and many alloys are not suitable due to their strength ribs. So generally the tubes are no longer used, but I don't think they are actually illegal! 
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

The main benefits with this type is that they are non-damaging....... and they make the job easier
Go for all metal variants or ones that look like they might be made to last more than 5 minutes (i.e. not the ones in the picture
) as you can sometimes need a bit of force.

I used to fit and balance tyres at the garage I worked at. The valve key is only really used to remove the valve so air can escape when initially popping the tyre off. The grease just aids the fitting off a new tyre as you have to force it on with a flat bar. The valve key is still useful though, as sometimes a flat tyre can be a valve issue only and can be used to wind your mates up with slow punctures....not that I would do that.... Having the valve removed will not help in anyway to seat a new tyre. Once the new tyre is fitted you need that valve to pump air into the tyre and wait for that POP which will make you jump every time.

My (very limited) experience - I watched as a friend's dad helped fix a puncture on a trailer tyre many years ago. He had a pneumatic version of my manual tyre changing machine - from memory there was only pneumatic cylinder action serving to hold the wheel in place (and guess maybe had bead breaker function too? Tyre had done that itself in the short distance it ran flat (trailer was full of clay soil at the time, so we ignored the puncture whilst got it in position to empty at the farm - maybe 15-20 metres of sub walking pace manoeuvring the trailer to emptying position was enough to break the bead very effectively!) Having shovelled out, cough cough, definitely no more than the 400kg capacity of said trailer, we could then more easily get it off the ground and attend to the wheel.
No tube, tyre was plug / patched from memory, but once put back on the rim we'd heck of a job to get it to do the described very loud POP! POP! of getting it reseated both sides. In the end think we'd a ratchet strap around the perimeter and the valve core out to try and allow as swift flow in as we could get from the compressor. This was remote in an adjacent workshop/barn so the losses on route hindered us.
I was just along for the ride as a spectator (said mate's father is a farmer's son and does this sort of stuff as easily as tie his shoe laces. Sort of turn his hand to anything much as most farmers seem to do / have to be able to do) I think that damned wheel came close to beating him that night (was already end of a long day when the puncture happened, the third or fourth trailer run of the day I think. Light fading and ready for something to eat when PPSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTTTT! ) but he's not one to give up even if we'd had been there all night!
Anyway, if I've wasted £3.27 then I'm not too heartbroken
