Are those original wheels? I'm asking because they have a hole in the middle. Was the hole machined later? Probably for tyre balancing purposes...

Sharper, it really helps the go-cart feeling and tyres are more plentifull in the rating required. I miss my Activa.

Ive not read this for ages, last time i checked in it was all pie in the sky, now its shiny and on the drive with a lot of hard graft and love in between, do you have any current photo's of the whole car?

Thanks for the kind words Sir

I have yet to find a set of wheels that (to me) fit with the "Retro Style" of the Xantia that do not modernise it.....
I have fortunately now acquired a complete set of brand new Michelin Pilot HX tyres in 205/15.....I will make up my mind in the summer after trying them

Vsx alloys maybe? Seem a bit old school.

Nicely done with the spare set, mine need a good clean as they've got years of dust baked on, wheel cleaner barely dents it!

I like the contrasting gloss black? bumper and door trims, the spoiler looks good too.

My old ones Wheels
Something thats not an iconic OE wheel would be more subtle, like some 17" Almera wheels, very non descript and not an 'open' design, they would suit the car well.

Lovely job anyway, nice to see a well looked after Activa.

Nice wheels.....but they are to me way way to modern for the age of the car.
Back then they did not or could not, make wheels as light weight and open as those.

Bumpers are Metallic Grey btw.......the paint job was done before I got the car in France.

Nothing that says "modified"....steels cry out as a big wanabe street racer, my thing is to keep it looking like a bogo standard old Citroen thing (all be it in good condition).......something even 99% of Petrol heads would not notice as being non OEM fit.....as said, not found them yet.

The last thing I need in life is a Poxhall Corsa or 306 Halford Special trying to race me, it is nice to keep it as a surprise for the BMW's and Audi's when I feel like it. I may even remove the V6 badge to go even more under the cover.

Sadly Pug 40.... wheels are a common mod on many cars.....they are nice however and it is a shame.

Well, I know you don't like the Hungaro wheels on the C5, but there are other ones that might suit. Take a look at them, see if there are any you like, and if I see any at the scrappy I will let you now.

Speaking of rims. And I know this may not be what you are looking for, but I will suggest it anyway. I was actually not a fan of the bog standard Citroën Xantia rims. They are almost ugly. Almost.

I replaced them with OZ Racing Superturismo GT Race Silver R16, because they looked good on the car without looking stupid.

Image

I unfortunately don't have a great picture of my car (because I am reluctant to take pictures of my Xantia with its current front bumper), so here is an older odd angled picture, but with those rims:

Edit: Found one in a better angle:

Purely for inspiration.

In my experience, the wheels don't look out of place if you don't look closely. But if you stare at the wheels and look at them, they are clearly non-standard wheels. But from afar, they don't look out of place on a Xantia.

Nice wheels for sure....but not really "period" looking.

The thing is I have a modern Citroen with modern alloy designed wheels on it
I have a Classic car with Wire wheels and Spin off center wing-nuts
and I have a "Modern Classic" with wheels that maybe could be a little larger.

That said, and I must reiterate, I have yet to feel what a 17 inch tyre would do to the combination of handling/comfort of what is essentially a fast touring car.
It is this combination that I find the most attractive aspect of the Activa design ...it is not for me neither a street racer or a participant in the Traffic Light GP.

Nice car btw.

Hmm... you may be right that they are not "period" looking. Taste is purely subjective, so I am not attempting to convince you of anything. I only went with 16 inches rims, because I thought 17 was too much (also because one in my local Citroën club told me he would slap me if I did).

I should note that I have since replaced the original Xantia Activa front suspension spheres (40kg) with XM front suspension spheres (50kg). After some testing, we discovered that car became more comfortable without losing its Activa handling. We tested the latter part in a roundabout doing 80 km/h. (Sidebar: We also tried replacing the rear suspension spheres (30kg) with Xantia Break spheres (40kg), but that made the car skid in the roundabout.)

LOL....a couple of the Activa owners here would "do" me if I ever swap my wheels as well :).....one would insert a Haggis in an unmentionable place and the other would choke me with a organic flap-jack :)

Interesting on the spheres at 40.......I do not have any problems with the comfort of the car and I think the Pilot HX tyres will improve this also.......but maybe we should run a few tests. I could do this as I have some rechargeable spheres.

The only missing thing for me is the lack of "road surface feel" (not possible to change on a Citroen) but as an ex biker, I tend to instinctively eye-ball the surface anyway.
