Ok so patch on the rad held I idled it for 2 hours still fine. I pressure tested it and it holds at 15psi no bother so I'm calling it a fix. There's still air in the clutch though sb i need to work on it next. I need to polish the headlamps as well and clean it out and give it a wash.

I was moving the C5 and she seems to be sticking going into reverse. It could be the clutch still has air in it. Has anyone else had this.

It is possible. I use a Mityvac for bleeding and dont usually have a problem, Well worth bleeding again as it is the easy option

I think I will have to try it again. I have a vacuum pump which is more or less the same thing. It could be just the last few air bubbles in it I suppose.

Probably I do not need to mention this, but make sure the brake fluid level in the reservoir is kept high since the outlet for the clutch is high up. It is very easy with a Mityvac to quickly bleed too much fluid out and suck air back in to the clutch cylinders. I have done this and learnt the hard way.

Yeah found that out myself Paul. I do keep it full once it starts pulling the pump would empty it pretty quick.

. I couldn't get her into reverse tried bleeding clutch again no joy.. Rediscovered some of Gunther's ( my pet name for the previous owner) handy work,he was at the cables for the gear linkage. I had noted it but chose to ignore it until this morning. I have to replace it now as well so NCT is postponed for a couple of weeks.I have a pain my choose your expletive.found a replacement for €120 on eBay so have to wait on it to make the camel journey from Lithuania.

Oh dear! Keep battling it!

Be slightly grateful it broke down in a semi convenient location - I was forty miles from home when my (C4) cable went! Thankfully it was the "left-right" one of the two so still had choice of third and fourth so was able to limp home :)

Yeah I was getting ready to bring it for a spin to see how it went glad it went when it did. Could have failed on the road which could have been very dangerous on my road.
