Re: Burst suspension pipe at rear
I can only think of either insufficient pressure in the LDS tank to get it going - especially considering the work that has been done lately exposing the circuit to a lot of air. Bleeding, which we have talked about, or a faulty pump internally - it may be making a noise but is it doing anything? If fully depressurised using Diagbox, it can still take 4-5 minutes to get pressure back before it starts to rise. - and also double check the inside height control is still not on the lowest position.
Lastly, although the pump is making a noise and possibly working - if the connections to the suspension ECU on the BHI are not working then it won't be commanding the electrovalves to open or close to allow the fluid in and out. So check those connections and the circuitry and fuses (on all fuse boxes) as it's not just the large 40 / 50A fuse - that's only for the pump.

Re: Burst suspension pipe at rear
Thanks Marc,
I have been thinking along the same lines.
I think the refitting the battery will have to be done properly but my problem my car is stuck outdoors and leaving a window down is not the best. So I will fit it so I can check the voltages at the important places.
I will have to check the continuity between the electrovalves and ECU. The 40amp beside the battery and the 2 fuses in the glovebox 5 amp and 10 amp. They were all checked for continuity and fine. will check again.
I've managed to source a 2nd pump with out ECU for £100 which is much better than min price £250 up to £400 elsewhere.
I can't do anything at the moment, the weather is pants so wait and see.
Will get back once I carried some checks.
Is there anybody out there who repairs/ refurbishes these pumps ?
Is it worth speaking to Martin @ Pleiades ?
Kenny

Re: Burst suspension pipe at rear
Re the window Kenny, regarding the BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure this has nothing to do with the procedure itself - leaving the window open is just for emergency access to get into the car if needed, so you can skip this part if required and the car is secured.

Re: Burst suspension pipe at rear
Thanks Marc,
The pump I found is no longer available,so had to pay a bit more for another.
Also phoned Pleiades and they have found it is the solenoid on the side of the pump is the main problem, they just swap them over and that's usually it.
I'll get back to the forum with an update or prognosis.

Re: Burst suspension pipe at rear
Marc,
Do you have a diagram for the pins on the Suspension ECU ?
Are all 32 pins in use and if so where do the other 15 pins go ?
Can't find anything at the moment re the connector.
Thanks

Re: Burst suspension pipe at rear
Marc,
found this from reveue technique which others may find helpful
But, I cannot find the wires which connect to Injection ecu or abs ecu or steering angle sensor to hydraulic pump.
Just a bit of research while I'm stuck at home with the snow.

Re: Burst suspension pipe at rear
Hi Kenny
Here are the designations of the BHI 32 Pin connector, so you can see which ones are used and which are not on this vehicle. Unfortunately, connections to other ECUs involved is via the CAN network so there is no detail. But hopefully this can provide the type of information exchange and the pin designations.
Remember that this diagram is for the 4 Cylinder engines. The 6 Cylinder engines have an additional Suspension Computer (CSS) and that has 3 wiring blocks, one of which is a 32 pin connector - that probably connects to the 32 BHI Interface below as I believe that handles the control of the BHI computer.

Re: Burst suspension pipe at rear
Thanks Marc,
Trying to find this info is fun, It will give me an idea where to check, when I can find my car outside !!!!!!!!!!!
Kenny
PS I believe I finally worked out how the system works. Weather is going to settle down for a few days here so going to remove the pump and examine it on a bench.
Got a donor pump to fiddle with.
Will get back with an update.

Re: Burst suspension pipe at rear
Another update refitted 2nd pump which was very clean inside with my ECU. Awaiting LDS fluid and dry weather to fit fuse box.
When I removed the fuse box in engine bay it appears somebody has been there before and fitted an earth fuse in the battery charger system unit wiring. For what reason I do not know ! I will confirm if the above is correct.
Thoughts please on a postcard !
Question: Do you set height to normal after pressurising system to get vehicle rise.
Vehicle is currently at lowest level. I will fill up to Max level move steering from lock to lock and re check level then pressuirise system raise to normal height and wait.

Re: Burst suspension pipe at rear
Only fill it to between the 'A' and 'B' shown - never more than the mark at 'B' Kenny on lowest setting:
When finished and starting the car, just ensure the suspension control is set back to normal level first of all to see if it working, before carrying out the bleeding procedure, which requires the Highest setting, waiting until it has reached the maximum ground clearance, then the lowest setting, before carrying out the 10 SLOW lock to lock turns without holding the steering wheel at full lock. Then recheck fluid is between said levels on picture and wait for fizzing to disappear - then repeat if necessary.
Interesting about what you have found - will be interesting to see what you find.

Re: Burst suspension pipe at rear
Update re wiring:
It would appear the wiring has been cut at BF01 fuse no1, supply and return have been joined together and in line fuse holder fitted with a fuse marked 'E' which I presume is an earth fuse !?
But, where is BF01 (Engine compartment fuse box)
Kenny

PSF1 is the engine fuse box panel - but the BF01 is the one with the large fuses Kenny - underneath IIRC.

That is what I thought.
Do you have any diagram etc which can confirm what uses Maxi fuse 1 on my C5 x7 (Vin no VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff])
