What grade of oil

I have i think 5w/30
And 20w/40 ...grades
I've used thicker for older higher miles engines several times and its always been fine, any hints or personal preferences ?

I always thought my HDi engines ran better on 5W/30 Synthetic, but I could have been imagining it!

I use 5w30 synthetic (Total Quarz Ineo). C5 has done over 240,000 miles and seems to be quite happy with it.

To be honest I've only noticed a slight difference and the grades are more to do with temperature (weather) and we don't really have very bad winters like we used to.

Might try 5w/30.
