Re: Xantias disappearing?
Hi again,
Had to say mine passed it's mot today. Got 1 day short of 13 months mot on it now.
It needed a centre silencer for the exhaust and a couple of tyres, got all sorted for £140.00 by a bloke called Wilson at T.A. Private in Stroud. Was a good deal, and I haven't got the equipment to get it up in the air to do it myself. Happy with how it sounds (quiet) and performs now.
Was going to ask has anyone got an older Xantia SX 2.00l H.D.i. (110bhp) than mine? Although mine was a '99 model it was registered in the last week of '98.
Was wandering are there any older Xantias like mine out there?
Cheers,
Steve

Since this thread started I have noticed a reduction in the numbers but still see one now and again, never seem to see any XM's now.

Excellent stuff Steve!
You're right Peter and when did you last see a BX in daily use?

Re: Xantias disappearing?
There used to be a white BX estate parked outside a house in Colyton Jim, every time I saw it I was tempted to knock on the door, last time I went it had gone.
I have four XMs in the field but they don't belong to me.

Very rare to see a Xantia around here now. Don't see either the red saloon or the silver estate any more. Even get the odd comment about mine being a rare sight.Peter.N. wrote:Since this thread started I have noticed a reduction in the numbers but still see one now and again, never seem to see any XM's now.
I've had my gold XM for nearly three years now and in that time I've never seen another one on the road.

Re: Xantias disappearing?
According to how many left now down to 4300 taxed and 2500 SORN. Taxed cars down nearly 25% on a year ago - around 500 taxed cars disappearing a quarter. Peak was in 2000 when 131k were taxed!
I did see a red one on the M6 on Friday; used to see a dark blue MK1 estate around Whitburn fairly often, but haven't seen it in a while now.

Bloody hell! And I dare say a good many of them will be half decent cars that just need a bit of tlc. One's where the owner sees a large bill for clutch, suspension, welding etc and sees ploughing that money into a newer car as a better bet?RichardW wrote:Taxed cars down nearly 25% on a year ago - around 500 taxed cars disappearing a quarter.

Re: Xantias disappearing?
I suspect the reason you don't see these cars in regular use is the survivors are all in the hands of enthusiasts & many are hobby cars.
Think about it a BX (e,g.) is just not a practical proposition for the uninitiated.

According to the paper yesterday, there's more BX's on the road than Marinas - for which we should all be very grateful!
