The 207 is a great handling little car. The steering on mine is so nicely weighted at speed and the chassis is really rather good!

No, it's as far removed from an Activa as it is possible to get.. 207 handling is uninspired and worse, if that's possible, than a 206 with horrible over-assisted PAS which gives a peculiarly wooden feel.
As I say, drive it like you stole it and it is fun in it's own sort of way but nowhere near as much fun as an Activa.
It's also not comfy. Not by Gabriel's standards anyway!

Ahh, thought you were weakening towards a modern for a minute there
the 206 steering is indeed awful ( I liken it to being brought back to centre with a wound up bungee cord, especially on a fast A road) but I suppose in the absence of speed sensitive PAS that's the trade-off for how much the missus likes the drive round town.

I find I drive, by my standards anyway, the 207 very aggressively and with no mercy....
My excuse? I'm still testing it

I need to drive yours Jim, it sounds woeful compared to mine. I wonder if the "sport" version has slightly different springs, steering or tyres - mine has 185/60/15s

By all means Mike... Maybe I'm being unfair to it but all I can compare it with are Xantias so maybe my expectations are too high..
A comparison of our 207s would be most interesting

Re: 207 Randomly Cuts Out...
Shame the 207 handling is uninspiring, the 208 my father had (especially the rocket propelled 1.6BlueHDi one...) was an absolute hoot to drive on a twisty road. Never really had the chance to properly test it under normal service. The 1.4 he had prior to that I remember going round corners pretty well, but being quite lacking in enthusiasm for acceleration - didn't seem to matter if you drove it gently and economically or caned it...It still accelerated at exactly the same speed...Only thing that changed was the mpg readout.
The 1.6 though, that was a different animal entirely. If I was in the market for a new car just now, the 208 would be on the list I'd have to investigate.

Re: 207 Randomly Cuts Out...
If i could go new just now I think i would go for a new c3. I think they are lovely. Same car as the 208 i presume under the skin. The 1.2 82bhp engine has good reviews so thats what would be investigated. Ive never driven or even been in a 207, ive had 3 206 all 1.4 and they are ok but nothing really great. Not a patch on the 205.

Re: 207 Randomly Cuts Out...
I really must try out a 208 and see how I find it against the 207... from your experience Zel, it sounds very promising...

Re: 207 Randomly Cuts Out...
Hi Citrojim. Would you believe I have developed the identical fault of our 207 randomly cutting out.
It’s a 1.6vti sport auto bought from new in 2007.
It’s happened twice now having come off the motorway and approaching a roundabout the car goes completely dead. I had to coast to a standstill, switch off ignition. I then restarted it and it ran normally.
Did you ever get to the bottom of it? Ours has done around 60,000 miles now and has been regularly serviced by the Peugeot dealership.
Any advice from you would be much appreciated.
Charlie
