One thing I find fascinating about the UK, or perhaps its just Scotland, is that there are hardly any police on the road...seriously!
In New Zealand I literally couldn't drive 10 minutes across town without passing at least one cop car, maybe two. It would be a rare journey indeed through town that I didn't pass at least one.
Here I can drive for days or even weeks at a time without seeing a single cop car on the road, whether in small towns, motorways or in the big city. Perhaps there are a lot more unmarked cars, if so I wouldn't know of course!
I also notice that the speed limits here are flaunted to a far greater degree than New Zealand - if you drive at the speed limit on the motorway here you really feel like a granny that's being overtaken by all and sundry and expect to be passed at any moment by someone using a walker!

People are brazenly driving at 10, 20, occasionally even 30 mph over the speed limit on the motorway all the time, even in peak hours. You need to be doing 10-15mph over the speed limit just to keep up with the flow in the "slow" lane...
Perhaps its the fact that there seems to be a lot more police on the roads in NZ as well as a large number of hidden speed cameras. If you do 110-115Km on the motorway (100Km limit) in NZ you're almost guaranteed a speeding ticket from one of the numerous hidden cameras...
