Did the bonnet/roof last night.......it is coming on Ok.....I am just cleaning it really and removing the oxide, I am not taking every scratch out as I see no need to thin the paint to much. (It was VERY thin when applied anyway !)

It's been a good morning...

I ran in the Willen Hospice Lake Run 10K this morning and achieved a new 10K PB of 53m23s

This was a big fund-raising run ton raise much needed funds for our local hospice. Staggeringly it costs £10k a day to run and all must come from donations... It receives no other funding at all

Not only did I run it but also ran there and back to save the hassle of parking at the event! Over 20K ran - the equivalent of a half-marathon

After running parkrun and cycling 56 miles yesterday I'm now going to give my legs a rest and play cars for the rest of the day.

I'm going to run up the Activa and wash it and also wash the 207. I'll also be starting to give the Activa a pre-MOT and see what it needs to have done to stand a reasonable chance of a pass...

A good afternoon spent on the cars Both cleaned inside and out...

I fired up the Activa and was happy to find all still works perfectly...

I started Pre-MOT checks and all so far is good...

I did take the Activa for a quick drive (along my private test track) to de-rust the discs and generally see that she drives normally and happily she does...

I'm not feeling the love though. She feels hugely big, heavy and awkward compared to the little Pug... There was no pleasure in it.

My days of driving big cars are definitely over...

Still, delighted at how both scrub up... When given a decent wash

I did rather enjoy my time out with them and soon I'll have the spanners out on the Activa to check the rest over for the MOT.

I couldn't this afternoon as I'm now done for the day and quite exhausted. Now I must rest

I'm sure you'd be surprised to learn that the Activa is less than 100kg heavier than the 207, has a lower roofline, and is nearly 20cm narrower than the 207. It is, of course longer, by 49cm, but that and the extra weight are the only things making it bigger. For me, the dozy hydraulics, the longer wheelbase and the heavier controls of the Xantia (all Xantias) make them feel a lot bigger than they actually are. The 207 is a lovely nimble car, if a bit bumpy to ride in!

Yes, my exact assessment. Funnily enough it's really grown on me over the last few months and barring for the harsh ride and epically uncomfortable, hard seats it's otherwise perfect for what I want out of a car... These days that not much...

I get such a numb bum when driving it any distance... Trips to Somerset are utter agony and I find it helps to wear cycling shorts when driving it

I think you need to drive it more Jim, that's the issue. Your backside will then become accustomed to it. When I first got the BMW, I swear I've sat on comfier church pews than those seats! They're lovely looking leather, but hard as nails. 4500 miles later, I've become accustomed to them, and they're actually pretty comfy and very supportive. I really enjoy driving the 207 though, it's nimble, and fun to thrash on the countryside lanes around here. FWD is so much nicer than RWD for that sort of thing

I have had mu C5x7 now for 3 years and the seats are still to hard on my backside....why are seat squabs designed hard ? softer gives more grip !

On a plus note, the small car you need is coming up OK.......all compounded and sealed. I have to machine wax it, clean the plastic/rubber and add a final top gloss with cream polymer polish.
Then the inside.....which to be honest needs steam cleaning with 100psi a hot jet used on sh1t trucks !...yuk !

(Corrected autocorrect which decided that we had an "apparently room" rather than a spare room for some reason!)

Also, as I realised I'd never specifically said so...unless someone is already after it, can we put a reserved tag on the Activa until we've had a chat about the Skoda etc?

Suffice to say, I'm definitely interested. Couldn't really justify making an offer that wouldn't be insulting, but given you're interested in the Skoda as well, a part exchange may well be far more doable.

...Just figures this all comes up when I'm 3500 miles from home.
