I wonder if the current Rolls Royce factory down at Goodwood has produced the largest number of cars built by one company in Sussex ? Anyone know of any other 'volume' car producers that were based in Sussex ?

Ha! Ha! My mate used to work for Southern Roadcraft - they made Cobra and Ferrari Daytona replicas down in Southwick - not many miles due south of Pilgrim. I think Pilgrim made the bodies for them. I have a feeling, when Southern Roadcraft sold up, most of the stock went to Pilgrim.
15,000 kits is quite sizeable number for a relatively small company !

Not sure if this is a replica, or the original
The fire and rescue service in Cogolin, France, used a Citroën 15-6 (you can find one in our French area) as part of their fleet. One night while on patrol, Colonel Hourcastagné found the narrow mountain road blocked. Unable to turn the car around, he was forced to reverse down the road for several miles aided only by a fireman with a small flashlight to guide the way. This incident gave him the idea for the need of a robust vehicle that could be driven forwards or backwards with the same ease. This is how the “two-headed 2CV” came to be. Two front sections were welded together. The two parts function independently; each with its own engine. It remained in service for 20 years with its peculiar appearance causing major distraction when passing other motorists on the road. The first paint scheme of the Cogolin carried the number “60.”

.....the replica is resident at the Lane Motor Museum in Nashville Tennessee which looks like its worth a visit.

Image

One particular image sprung out for me. Each year they have a "Rally for the Lane"
...for which the staff culls a selection of historic vehicles right off the floor, gasses them up, puts air in the tires and lets people drive them on the public roads outside of Nashville. How cool is that?

Something PSA based on the paint code on the strut top...

I'd almost go for an electric Berlingo...
