Re: How to Replace the Internal MicroSD Card - RT6
I have read as much of this thread as humanly possible. There is a lot of information to digest, some of it will not be applicable to me.
I purchased a 3008 with the dreaded CD sound. I managed to reduce the price because of this.
I have managed to open up the RT6 radio and swap out the SD card. I have read in this thread, it does not matter what size SD card is used because the software limits the size. Living in the back of beyond my local computer shop could only supply a 64GB one. I trust them as a supplier for decent cards rather than a possible cheap copy from another supplier.
The installation will be "virgin" as I do not what the settings made by the previous owner.
The next step I am confused about. Do I need to find a Firmware update or can I just use Mirascript? Also can a Firmware update be done via the USB port?
I want to thank GivemeaBreak help us with is technical expertise.

Re: How to Replace the Internal MicroSD Card - RT6
I've read through this, there is a lot of information! I have the whirring no display problem. I have a new micro SD card and a new usb stick. I'm kind of ok with doing something to fix it. I obviously can't follow any instructions or get information as I have no screen. So my basic question is how do I find out what model I have and thereby order a cd or make a usb to load software back on? Many thanks I'm old so things can get a bit complicated. The first radio I worked on as an apprentice was a valve one so things have progressed...

Hi
If you have no display at this point, then I think you're snookered as you won't be able to respond to any messages. The guide is really intended for those are starting to have issues that indicate a failing internal Micro SD card - but if you have no display, you won't be able to make a backup of your configuration data nor answer question / prompts.
I would suggest it's time to start looking for a replacement unit and have it VIN coded to your vehicle (some resellers can do this for you prior to order).

That's a bummer, it just suddenly went while I was driving so no chance to back up anything I was hoping that I could just change the SD card, load the software cd in and wait patiently. I'm just about to sell the car so don't really want to spend hundreds of pounds on a car worth a couple of grand but with the display in km on hud it's not very saleable and I can't see any way of changing to mph so I imagine it's a default. He ho

Well I'd suggest at this stage you have nothing to lose by trying the upgrade and hope for the best. You'll need to extract the firmware to the USB (FAT32 Formatted) and hopefully next time the vehicle is started it will try and read the firmware and attempt to reinstall everything - which may also resolve the output to screen issues. Make sure the engine is left running once it starts and don't interrupt it.Jeromekjerome wrote: 07 Feb 2025, 15:44 That's a bummer, it just suddenly went while I was driving so no chance to back up anything I was hoping that I could just change the SD card, load the software cd in and wait patiently. If you need the latest firmware let me know.

Mirascripts is a small programme that is first used (Part A of the guide) to extract the user data files from the MicroSD card. These have your vehicle options and configuration data. It is then used (Part B of the guide) after you have replaced the SD card and allowed the firmware to recreate the partitions and install the Operating System, to copy back those settings if required. I say 'if required', because depending on the existing firmware version prior to the SD card replacement and the vehicle model (electrical architecture) this firmware can revert the unit back to an unconfigured state.
So if you are unable to extract the user configuration files (because of a failed unit or lack of output display), you take a chance on whether the update will be successful or not. But - if you have no other choice, I'd suggest it is worth a go as it can't get any worse.

Thank you for the information. It looks as if I have got the information incorrect.GiveMeABreak wrote: 10 Feb 2025, 00:32Ok, so these are 2 separate issues:LionTamer wrote: 06 Feb 2025, 18:53 I have read as much of this thread as humanly possible. I have looked at the old D card with a windows machine and using the DatExplorer found on the MiraScripts web page.
I will give the latest firmware file a go.
In the guide there was nothing written about the front panel.
I cannot attach images to this post. Any how, Only the upper tabs by torx screws the lower ones is just clipped in and need no tools required to free it from the radio chassis.

Hello dear sir,GiveMeABreak wrote: 08 Apr 2022, 15:07 Hi Paris, ok so if you currently have V2.75, then it should be possible to go to V2.86 without a problem as you already have a major version of the firmware.
I have V2.86 as a file, but it is highly recommended that a new dealer copy on CD be used. They are about €17 from the dealer, and this ensures you have no issues. I do have the 2.86 ISO that you can make a CD with if needed - let me know.
can you also send the firmware ISO file V2.86 to me.
Thank you

Re: How to Replace the Internal MicroSD Card - RT6
Thanks for all the helpso far. ive managed to change sd card. download firmware but it came up with slightly different files on the usb stick the last 2 are just named "cd" and "config" as opposed to what this forum shows should be "cd.inf" and "config.inf" . Is this just a a different way of showing same thing or is it just wrong. The unit starts up, has the peugeot logo. Which got me very excited, but then after about 10 minutes of checking it, it shows cfc error on media. Its frustrating but odly also very interesting. Many thanks for all the help so far especially to GiveMeABreak.

That will be because your computer isn't set up to view file extensions.
Open up a folder and then click on Tools. From the drop down menu choose Folder options. A new window then opens up. Click on the middle tab View. About the eighth button down is Hide extensions for known file types, untick the box.
You might also consider the Hidden files and folders option and change it to Show. It's not necessary for this but I find it annoying that the computer thinks I'm incapable of being careful!
