On an allied topic, what really annoys me is websites that repetitively ask me to agree to their use of cookies and so on. Some sites on every visit.

This is odd as although I clear all browsing history and ephemeral browser stuff such as the cache and so on, I don't delete cookies...

So why do they ask every time?

I have a scrap email address for sites that demand and I don't want them to have it... It's called hotmail... I'm no fan of hotmail but it serves the purpose as a repository of crap quite well... Crap into crap

I opened my hotmail account in 1996 not long after it was launched and have used it as my main address ever since. I have never had anything to complain about with it, unlike my standby gmail account that generates so much crap that I have given up looking at it at all!! I just empty it every few weeks!! My recently opened Duckduckgo account has not produced a single junk email to date, so I may begin to use that as my main account in the future!! :-D

I have exactly the opposite Mick! My main and primary gmail account and my secondary gmail account are both absolutely squeaky clean and a delightful spam-free zone despite my primary being the destination for a hard-forward on an email address I've held since Noah was learning how to build boats.

Hotmail, on the other hand, despite being hardly used, is a sea of rubbish. Spam of all sorts and flavours!

Three Gmail accounts, no spam to speak of, one a month perhaps.
Two Yahoo accounts, one disguised as BT, very little spam,
One Hotmail account. Masses of spam.

Same on both laptops and with both browsers - Firefox and Brave. (Linux Mint).
Strange, works again now, didn't last night.

Within a superb Grand Final of University Challenge aired last night there was another example of the paucity of general knowledge about the geography of the United Kingdom already deposited here by yours truly.

...and not for the first time it was the cream of Durham University providing the evidence. Yes it was the final, and the question wasn't which City in Wales lies on the River Taff (it was actually!), but it was wrapped up thus, I transcribe...
....also shortlisted was Gentle/Radical, an art collective in which city :?: The jury admired their commitment to the Community of Riverside in which they are based , the river in this case being the Taff.

Durham's discussion
Does anyone know where that goes :?: Taff :?: Is that in Wales :?:
I don't know the Taff Don't know
Why do I want to say its Liverpool :?: That's the Mersey, No that's the Mersey. Yeah Um Just Give it a whirl
Anything :?:
No I don't knowPass :!:

In this instance, may I place an unnamed BBC journalist in room 101. See if you can spot why in this quote from the BBC Sports webpage....

"Delays and injuries saw more than 25 minutes of injury time played across the four halves of the game, which went to extra time and then a shootout."

:-D

Surely that would be American football.

And while I am here, perfume.
Walking beside the road the stink coming from cars with open windows was disgusterous. Evil stuff.
Pedestrians too :(
