Re: Eolys?

Post by FrenchyG »

Hey guys, my first post here and I'd like to thank you all for the tips that I've got from this forum over the years. I thought the time had come to register :-D

So I got the dashboard message 'particle filter additive too low'. 2014 C4GP B78 RPO:13650 VIN: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

My guess is it needs Powerflex and it's a tank but can someone please confirm this?

Also, would you recommend this product from JLM that they claim to be compatible with all generations of DPF?

https://www.jlmlubricants.com/en-us/pro ... fill-fluid

My concern is how it would mix with Eolys that's left in the tank.

Cheers,
Georges

Yes you have a reservoir and yes you need Powerflex.

Powerflex is the official fluid required and I can't really comment on aftermarket solutions, sorry.

Thanks Marc.
Any chance for a link? It's very confusing on ebay (or elsewhere) to know what product to buy. Or is it safer to go to an official dealer?

Plenty on here from walker and others - just avoid the pouches which are for systems with a pouch of course:

Your could of had either Powerflex or Eolys Extend and these can't be mixed together. But if you have a Green connector then it is likely to be Eolys Extend for this build date and 508 (W2 version).

Thank you very much for your answer. If I take off reservoir and empty content from it can I fill it with any of this two? Because I don't know what previous owner poured :(

Yes, if you empty the tank out you can use Powerflex as this is a third generation additive. They just can't be mixed together.

If doing this, be aware you may have to prime the pump and you WILL have to reset the additive counter. Make a note that you've used Powerflex in the handbook for reference too.

Thank you, I have Diagbox that is not the problem, just wanted to be sure because I don't want to mess something up. I just wanted to be sure that I can fill it with anything if I empty the tank, does the hoses need to be cleared or just the tank is ok? Sorry for asking so many questions.

Well put it this way, the additive dosing amount is very small, so you really want to get as much out of the system as you can.

Would it be worth flushing with diesel to ensure that no mixing takes place?

I wouldn't recommend contaminating the additive pump with Diesel Steve as that may introduce additional issues.

Sorry but I have just one more question, eolys 176 can be mixed with powerflex, infineum and extend if my research is correct? So maybe the safest way is to use 176 or walker green?

How do you prime the pump out of interest? Is it a function in Diagbox? or just apply 12v to the connector?
