Alasdair, when I'm driving I have no need to read what track I'm listening to. My ears tell me all I need to know...
And on the rare occasions I use one. I can see the screen of my (now almost vintage) sat-nav a treat and again, not much need to look and see as some authoritative bint gives me the directions I need
Gibbo, that phone is a bit of a blast from the past! Love it! I understand Nokia have restarted production of one its old classic designs for those who want a simple, straightforward phone.

A cracking 42 mile bike ride today across Beds, Bucks and Northants! Great to ride my best bike for a change today - it's been a while as the weather has not been dry enough... I went further than planned but then I always do on a nice day... The finale of the ride was a hard race from Lathbury to the Newport Pagnell town sign with a fellow cyclist hell-bent on beating me - he didn't

How do you choose a new album/track/artist from the 350 Albums of choice on your player ?CitroJim wrote:Alasdair, when I'm driving I have no need to read what track I'm listening to. My ears tell me all I need to know...

I don't have that many, even at home! I put only around about 300 carefully chosen tracks on my players... I put the whole lot on repeat shuffleStickyfinger wrote:How do you choose a new album/track/artist from the 350 Albums of choice on your player ?CitroJim wrote:Alasdair, when I'm driving I have no need to read what track I'm listening to. Cannot be doing with "the Carpenters" when I really want "Motorhead"

No DJ "music types" or "mood" select ?....another good feature I use a lot.CitroJim wrote:I don't have that many, even at home! I put only around about 300 carefully chosen tracks on my players... No, my choice of music on my player suits any mood I'm in just perfectly.
I only have one mood anyway

Like a lot of things I just let it all wash over me these days Alasdair. I just can't be bothered to get agitated any more...

I think more people get agitated with me and my lane selection at roundabouts when I do not know where I am going Jim

Gabriel's cooling fans are playing up again... They now run continuously AFTER the ignition is switched off and stop when the ignition is on
I'll take a look late this afternoon but aren't old Xantias and their electrics fun
Apart from that's she's running very sweetly...

Re: Citrojim's Xantia Activa, 1.9TD and Bike Tales
I'm really puzzled over Gabriel's fans. I had a quick look this afternoon when I had an odd few minutes spare - it's been a very busy day - and find with the ignition on and engine running they behave 100% normally... They run if the Bitron sensor is disconnected and also run if the aircon switch is operated - all normal stuff...
However then one relay relay -under the control of the Bitron ECU - operates when the ignition is switched off or is in the Aux position...
No rhyme nor reason... Looks like either the Bitron ECU is playing up or it's responding to duff inputs. It's hard to tell given how inaccessible it is...
For now I've arranged a 'work around' to ignition switch the supply to the (mis) operating relay. That works but I now have a new bit of bizarreness - the fans now run for a few seconds on initial ignition-on and then go off and behave normally; it's almost like it's a Power-On Self-Test (POST) of the fans!
I must now sit down with all the wiring diagrams and see if I can find a potential cause...
Glad I noticed the fans running merrily away this morning when I returned to it from shopping... I didn't realise it was Gabriel at first and though it might be another car in the car park... It was only when it happened again I realised.
Had I not noticed the battery would have been flat in no time...

Re: Citrojim's Xantia Activa, 1.9TD and Bike Tales
Gabriel's cooling fans are being as erratic as activas heating fan. Next try is definately doing a relay for it to see if that cured it. Is there an easy place to get a wire through the bulkhead so I can get a feed direct from the battery?

No Davie, there's no need. You can pick up a direct one under the steering column when you do the mod as directed
