Re: Citrojim's Xantia Activa, 1.9TD and Bike Tales
I have the solemn duty of reporting a death in the family today
This afternoon at approximately 12:20 the battery on the Activa was found to be dead...
It was only 5 years old but to be fair, it had been a bit off the pace for a while now...
Fortunately, the Deathtrap uses exactly the same battery and as she's just about to be SORN'd she donated hers to the grateful Activa
The Activa showed her delight by bursting to life with great vigour and no more than about half a rotation of the engine...
It's definitely the battery as the alternator is putting out a good 14.4V and the quiescent current draw is around 30mA...
Checked over both Gabriel and the Activa today and both are fine. Gabriel's using no fluids and loosing no air from her tyres over the course of a week so that's good...
Also took the Activa out for a very peasant drive in the sunshine today

Is that where you wave cheerily to the peasants as you splash them with muddy water?

I hope your peasant drive took in some interesting scenery, such as some pleasant peasants plucking some pheasants.

Sadly No James, it was just a tour of the Newport Pagnell Bypass and a trip to the top of Chicheley Hill and back into town... The only remotely interesting views on that route is an almost aerial view of the Northern parts of Milton Keynes, including some landmarks in the City Centre and the remains of a Royal Observer Core bunker right on top of the hill...
I did see a pheasant yesterday afternoon when I went out on my bike but it wasn't a very pleasant pheasant as it had earlier had an unpleasant - for it - intimate contact with a vehicle... It was very much an ex-pheasant...

I vividly remember Eamon Andrews, on "What's My Line", saying to a contestant who was a Pheasant Plucker "I'll have to be very careful how I say that"

Now in all of you tube, unless I am mistaken, there is only one video of "The Wurzels" version of "The pheasant pluckers son"
Its an odd video though Highway 57 in the USA. Strangely addictive driving music! and a decent sing-a-long even if you dont know the exact words

regards NeilI'm NOT a pheasant plucker, I'm a pheasant pluckers son and I'll sit and pluck the pheasants 'till the pheasant plucker comes...... Come on all you pheasant pluckers you!!!!!.............. I made this video while on the way home from my Dads house in Ovette Ms. This is Hwy 57 South just south of Bendale. It's typically a boring ride BUT with good music and a good attitude it can go rather quickly!!! Hope you enjoy!!!!

Re: Citrojim's Xantia Activa, 1.9TD and Bike Tales
I saw a phew feasants today. 2 females were running across the road (they REALLY don't like flying, do they?), and did not judge it properly. I did not hit either of them, but they decided to leave crossing the road to chickens. A bit later I saw a couple of males, but they were eating, and not playing chicken.

During a long bike ride today I saw none at all. In fact I saw nothing of interest whatsoever which is unusual... At least it was lovely weather for it... Making the most of these fine autumn days as there can't be many more to come in 2016...
Today I've entered the 2017 Milton Keynes Half Marathon on May Day Bank Holiday - my next major challenge... I have dreams of doing a full marathon one day...

When you have done that you will have to look for a Triathlon. Then, after that, an Iron Man challenge!CitroJim wrote:During a long bike ride today I saw none at all.
