The discovery 3 has been a pain in the tool box for a mate of mine who works at a local garage , he said to me last yr every other car he repaired was one of them.MattBLancs wrote: 13 Jan 2025, 12:57Based on the loads mine often see (and not blown up yet!) I'd not worry about that too much.Huskyxantia wrote: 13 Jan 2025, 07:56 So more weight stacked onto of an engine that would be working harder to haul all it's new look , sounds a potential can of worms then.
Difference in weight between a hoofing great Discovery 3 and, well anything else the 2.7 HDi / "TDV6" has to pull about, there is an appreciable difference in workload (and perhaps why they snap cranks in Discos) but between a 208 and 2008, I'd not think that great - certainly not enough to worry about.

That's a good plan... So often, CV boots fail due to perishing and deterioration of the rubber and often in the creases where the bellows can rub together...Huskyxantia wrote: 13 Jan 2025, 16:43I'm considering photos before the mot, of the boots as to prove there road worthy then if anything happens you got your proof date & time stamped , imagine that , oh sorry your CV boots are split so I failed your car , oh well check my photos I took a few hours ago they looked ok then !CitroJim wrote: 13 Jan 2025, 08:27I recall rumours of that happening years ago!Huskyxantia wrote: 13 Jan 2025, 07:56some testers getting handy with a small blade all of a sudden ??. Makes me think something is going on here.
The damage this causes is very different to a deliberate knife cut and is easily differentiated.
Another good ploy, when sending a car for service if you have any distrust, is to discreetly mark and photograph all the things that should be changed... Filters and so on...
As always, proving any skulduggery can be a bit of a trial even then. Be aware that timestamps on photos are not absolute and can be fiddled

If Neil was following this he would acuse me of pedantry here but just for clarity I assume you mean the 2008, 3008 and 5008 Husky?Huskyxantia wrote: 13 Jan 2025, 16:46 I had a 50008 in front of me earlier driving on the motorway, it sat well looked ok too but I rather like the slightly smaller 30008 , mine you them 20008 look alright , numbers lol what is it with peugeot & there numbers

Re: Citroen c3 picasso
Well picasso still going , ive been using my 308cc (sorry but it's so nice to drive ) even found a way of getting out the car by pushing down on the door frame part then this lifts me up . But I still enjoy the picasso too, even thou that niggle is in the back of my mind, plus I'm still recovering from the lung infection too, been up & down now since a week before Christmas, never had anything go then come back 3 times now.

Re: Citroen c3 picasso
Great to hear from you Husky and delighted to hear you're now on the road to recovery and the Picasso is happy
Excellent
I do understand totally about the 'niggle'. All the times I've resolved an issue with no real 100% certain cast-iron cause it has taken ages for me to be confident of it again; this applies not just to cars but anything...
I'm sure the Picasso is going to be absolutely perfect and an absolute paragon of reliability from now on

Re: Citroen c3 picasso
Thanks Jim, just my luck the moment I think it's doing good the car get a hit like this. I've got another wheel same size with a pretty decent tyre on too which should be hear tuesday 28th jan, so the one coming off can be stored till I can get that new tyre off & popped onto this other wheel,
Here's the tricky part , this part of road runs near 3 different postcodes so first thing is to find what council owns what , we all know what there like for owning up too.

Re: Citroen c3 picasso
So today the c3 picasso had an oil & filter change, The mechanic gave me the task of undoing the filter housing & I understand why he did , it was lose this was tightened down at the last service at the correct torque . So once all was done & this cap needed pounding up it was done a tad more then the settings state, The loll pressure warning has now gone.

Re: Citroen c3 picasso
That's worrying Husky... I always torque mine up to the correct 25 Nm using a torque wrench. I find it comes undone relatively easily but I'd never say it was loose.
Did your loose one show any sign of leaking?
