Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
Just in out of the rain. I can't get the crank pulley bolt loose on the new engine. Just split my 22 socket in two places.
. I'll have to pick a new one up tomorrow. I just can't make progress

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
Think there's care needed on the crank pulley bolt (possible to shear it??) - loctite binding up as bolt wound out. Anyway that's a challenge for when it's moving.
More leverage? I bought a nice big long 3/4" drive breaker bar and set of impact sockets - both eBay cheapo stuff.

Use heatgun and heat up the bolt so loctite softens...

Ok thanks for the advice lads I'll try again today with heat and more leverage.

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
I used a scaffolding pole through my breaker bar and applied steady pressure. If it still does not move heat bolt as suggested. Fortunately never had to use heat.
Heat is mentioned in the Citroen procedure to aid removing bolt.

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
Hi all, timing belt done. Got the pulley off heat gun and breaker bar worked great on the bolt. Discovered another slight difference with the reluctance ring. It had a press fit bearing type reluctance ring on it and the floating pulley had seized and I damaged the pulley getting it off. I then discovered a lot of corrosion on the water pump and chamber. It's all back together now using the pulley off the original engine. I cleaned up the chamber as best as I can. I think it will cavitate over time but I hope not too much damage.i think it's salvageable but time will tell. I need to change the clutch flywheel and gearbox across it's raining now so have to stop.i have a bit of soldering to do as well. A couple of plugs I need to replace that got damaged removing the engine can't win em all. Slow but steady progress.

Bloody hell. Looks like some numpty has used Loctite 260 or 290 (off top of my head) and way too much. If that came out of the factory like that it’s worrying.
It needs about 300 degC to break the adhesion down. Standard low strength would surely have been enough. No wonder you could not shift it.

Yeah I was thinking that myself Roger I decided to use both heat and leverage because I had a feeling it could be thread lock.and was afraid of shearing the bolt.

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
Ok so separated the old engine and gearbox and moved it out of the way new engine and gearbox on a pallet now. Pulled the flywheel off the old engine as it's no good way too much play and discovered a bad oil leak. Bloody typical. So I need to order new seals. I was expecting it considering the condition of the timing end seals but not to the extent of it. Well its not going back in this week. I've a bit of soldering to do. I'll do it later on or tomorrow.

Torrential here at present, hope you're not out in similar! Not much fun.
Sorry I got a bit lost, are you getting a replacement water pump (or swapping in from the other engine?) - rather than putting the one pictured back?

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
Hi Matt , no it started raining so wrapped up everything. We are expecting bad weather so went out earlier to beat it and for once was successful in doing so I hope that puts your mind at ease. I'm trying to avoid getting wet had enough of it over the years. Refuse to work in it now.
I wasn't using that water pump straight in the bin with it. I swapped the water pump off my original engine as it has no mileage on it but with a fresh corteco steel gasket. So I hope that prevents the heart attack Matt
.I am a bit concerned with what I am finding but I have to take a punt on it at this stage. The parts list is small and cheap as I can transfer most of my old engine. I should be able to make a good one out of the two if necessary. Hoping it will run ok with the new seals in and a couple of oil changes and good coolant.

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
Good work Darren,
To me your 'new ' engine has been sitting for a while and a tiny amount of coolant has been left behind. Water is brilliant finding its way into things.
At least you have a spare engine, plus those seals and gaskets always need to be replaced with new.
Will wait with interest for your next post.
Kenny
PS Have some issues with my 'new ' motor, but that's a story for a different forum.

Ha ha, good news on all fronts!
Yes I hate the wet too, would take icy cold (but dry) over a good few degrees warmer but raining any day of the week (end!)
