Down to the woods...anywhere and everywhere in the Country. Like here 4 miles out of Consett Co Durham, but a natural wilderness.
Derwent Gorge and Muggleswick Woods National Nature Reserve.
Here's my picture of part of it....quite striking

A lot of dolphin activity off the North-East Coast yesterday ...always look for them when down the coast. The tuned in dolphin spotters helpfully report in sightings like this fb group Newbiggin-by-the-Sea Dolphin Watch.

The Falcons were down at Druridge Bay/ Newbiggin Yesterday but had we known at the time it was a hot dolphin spotting day we may have focussed our gaze more out to sea!

Surprisingly Cambois Beach, where the River Wansbeck meets the sea and a good vantage point for scanning a panorama of lot of water 300-400m offshore , looking for Dolphins. Today Tynemouth pier was the place to be though, reports of over 20 Dolphins, and again many sightings off the Northumberland Coast. Plenty of rain and brooding skies as well as patches of the blue stuff and fluffy white clouds.

Apart from Flamingo park and Borås zoos, the only dolphins I have seen were in Whitby harbour, 1960-ish.

They have been are pretty active in the vicinity of Roker Pier recently too according to the Dolphin watch fb page.
There is a youtube live stream from "Roker Lad"....of the Seascape down at Roker capturing Dolphin activity.
Obviously nothing is happening most of the time so not a rivetting watch, but it does capture activity when it occurs then snipped up into clips like this.

NeilNewbiggin Dolphin Watch...
June is a hotspot round the North East Coast around the rivermouths and movements of pods up the Coast.
We think the dolphins are attracted to Roker this time of year for the sea trout. Its too early for mackerel.
June is our busiest month for sightings. At any one time about 100 bottle nose dolphins in various pods move and and down our coastline. They have fave feeding spots like rivermouths.
