Re: Citroen Relay 2006 Immobiliser Padlock
Im back on mine today, I have since stripped the ecu and the BSI to check for water/damp/burnt/broken bits, going to retest all wiring and go from there. Will keep you updated

Re: Citroen Relay 2006 Immobiliser Padlock
I took out the BSI and stripped it to check for water damage/burns but was all good. I put it back together amd refitted it. I also stripped the ECU and broke two capacitors on the board. I ordered two new capacitors and fitted them, rebuilt and refitted it. Tried the van and all was good!. Now I have comms again all modules had a fault code of "no comms from ECU" so must have been a bad connection somewhere. Cleared all codes and none have returned other than a glow plug fault which I will test once its not raining!

Re: Citroen Relay 2006 Immobiliser Padlock
Blimey, I wish my issue was a simple as that!! Although you seem to have a good electronic understanding. When you say capacitors are these connected with the CAN??
I'm at the point where it must be a pin/plug connections. I have a brand new ECU and had the BSI checked and still no comms!!
Thanks for the update all the same.

Re: Citroen Relay 2006 Immobiliser Padlock
I am not sure what the capacitors on the ecu do to be honest I broke them because they are glued to the ecu housing when I seperated the pcb from the housing it pulled the capacitors off the pcb!. I think the bad comms may have been at the back of the bsi because you can seperate it from the fuseboard by unclipping the two halves and there is a link plug between the two. All I can say is double check those bud

Re: Citroen Relay 2006 Immobiliser Padlock
I have just read up that a capacitor on an ECU can filter out unwanted signals so maybe they were at fault.....I should of retested after each stage to pinpoint the exact problem but I was waiting for the new capacitors so carried on with other checks/fault finding. Hope you have some joy with yours. I have PM'd you a picture of the capacitors

Ah right, interesting on the capacitors.
Yeah, I've split the BSI, not sure whether I used contact clean on the pins though?!
I need to follow up on a couple of things posted here, if inconclusive/find the issue, I'm thinking of re pinning the ECU plug CAN wires!?
And so the saga continues!!
Thanks for the picture

No problem, I checked all can continuities and also insulation resistance tested them to ground and all was good and clear. I am pretty certain it was just a bad plug/socket connection at the BSI though.

Re: Citroen Relay 2006 Immobiliser Padlock
ITS ALIVE!!. After literally months of messing about with this van I finally took the plunge and got a £1 trial with Autodata so I had access to a full wiring diagram, as I only had bits and pieces of information and wiring diagrams. To recap this van would only start with the code key put into the Texa. Some of the instrument panel would not work including tachometer. The padlock symbol was on after 5 seconds and the glow plug light wasn't coming on at all. It had fault codes relating to can bus, key and unknown abs faults.Stricko wrote: 28 Jul 2023, 17:48 Hi
Did you manage to solve the camper non start?
I have a 2007 relay with exactly the same fault. The van was stood for maybe three months and started very poorly (which was unusual), after a 30 mile round trip and returning home, it refused to restart on the drive. I can get it running with the keycode using my Texa. The padlock key in the dash comes on after 5 seconds and the engine turns over but will not start unless the key code is put in via the Texa.
The fault turned out to be a faulty ABS MODULE, I bought a used one for £36, plugged it in and hey presto van starts and everything works as normal.
I hope this helps someone who has the same problem.

Any positive updates on this problem Dieseljimmer? My 2008 RELAY Camper has just started with the same problem...Immobiliser padlock on, van turns over but will not fire up...just like you i've been working through various fixes but to no avail. Considering getting it towed to a Citroen garage but concerned with the big £££'s from a main dealer.

Nice one, well done! Thanks for posting a reply on your find for others who may have the same problem.
I've had my ABS module check out and given a clean bill of health. I'm no further forward with the issue and other stuff has kept me occupied, and of course the weather hasn't helped.
My next plan of attack, and after throwing a number of bits at it, New superseded engine ECU, ABS check, BSI check, I'm now into wiring loom mult plug connectors, wiring loom through bulkhead! I must stress that I have continuity checked the CAN lines, linked out the ABS plug on numerous occasions and this all checked out, there is continuity! All be it, is it the right resistance?
Hence why I'm at the stage of ECU plugs.
Once again, thanks for the reply, it was suggested when I first had the issue that the ABS can be a problem and can drag th CAN signal voltage down.

See reply to Stricko. No change with my issue. As I mentioned, ECU engine module plugs/ wiring loom will be my area of further investigations.
What have you checked? Have you run through wiring checks/continuity checks of the CAN wires?

Re: Citroen Relay 2006 Immobiliser Padlock
I removed head light today for better access and checked the wiring looms, cleaned/inspected all the ECU plugs, earthing straps etc put back together and unfortunately still the same. I'm going to hand it over to an auto electrician..just looking for somebody with lots of experience on these van models. Re: Citroen Relay 2006 Immobiliser Padlock
Just letting you know i got it fixed today..corroded wires from the ECU. Looking at them visually like i did you wouldnt tell they were corroded. Only when the chap showed me the wires that he had replaced (they had become hard almost brittle). It's apparently a common problem with the water getting in that side of van..in hotter climates across europe its not an issue.
I went to an auto locksmith who recognized straight away that the problem wasn't to do with the Immobiliser Padlock being on as other symptoms were showing too. No glow plug light coming on, no engine management light coming on when you turn the key on and no comms with the ECU. The auto locksmith put me in touch with a chap who has fix this issue many times. Cost me £300 and can only say i'm massively relieved to have found someone who knew what the problem was likely to be and how to fix it!
He's a mobile auto electrician based in Rochdale called Dave..not sure how far he is willing to travel but i couldn't recommend him highly enough.
Cheers
