Yeah, I watched your video and also others about separating the ECU from the block. Looks fairly simple. Also had a scout for a replacement. Best quote so far is £70 just for the ECU. Pretty reasonable?

Think about it this way; if you took your car to a mechanic...and they managed to correctly diagnose and fix the problem...for £70, would that be a good deal?Meannamate wrote: 12 Mar 2022, 13:24 Yeah, I watched your video and also others about separating the ECU from the block. That’s £70 just for the part and delivery. OEM part from a breaker with 90 day guarantee. I could then swap it out and open up the old one?

It probably will be held together with RTV or some sort of adhesive. Most of the Youtube videos show them separating the module with a hair dryer or heat gun.
I would assume the connector pins are just jumpered on the PCB. But then why run it through the module at all? Why not splice them in the loom like all the other BUS connections? I don't know. The BUS might go through some sort of circuitry on the ABS module but I don't know why it would.
Most electronics these days are soldered with lead free solder. It's rubbish!! It becomes crystalline, brittle and then breaks. If you go that far, look for solder joints where the solder is cracked around the circumference of the joint where the pin pokes through the hole in the PCB.
