Cheers Jim.
There’s no rush. I think this is a job for warmer weather TBH.
I do love your modified socket idea but it’s still tight in there that I think it might possibly be quicker to take the bumper off so I can fully strip back the wiring loom if necessary as I can then check out the infamous splice below the radiator too. I’m probably wrong because I’ve never taken the bumper off.
I may load test the wiring today but I’m wanting to focus on training and other things else I’ll become a slave to the car.
I’ve clearly changed my attitude towards it and do again now enjoy tinkering with it, as I used to with cars many years ago in my teens and twenties.
Do let me have first dibs on them please. I’d very much appreciate that.
I’m left wondering if the internal resistance on the R/H fan motor from driver’s seat is causing lack of current to kick start L/H fan.

I certainly will Roger...
One thing I've noted is that if the fan motors have a different 'resistance' when spun around by finger on the blade with no power applied then the one with the least 'resistance' is close to death or already dead...
It's all to do with now much pressure the four brushes are applying to the commutator and light resistance indicates very worn brushes...
Also, when spinning down from running, both fans should come to rest within a short time of each other if they are healthy...

That’s interesting Jim. I’ll send you the sound file for the right hand working fan. I was unable to upload it.
Thing is I know how inquisitive you are so have to actually tried to strip one down and was unable to get it back together?

I listened to it Roger... That's one very unhappy motorRhothgar wrote: 12 Apr 2021, 09:21 That’s interesting Jim. I’ll send you the sound file for the right hand working fan. I was unable to upload it.
Yes, I have. They're not designed to be disassembled as they are riveted/bent-tagged together... The problem is getting them back together and I did not succeed as you need to be an octopus with 8 arms and 9 inch long thin fingers! Goodness knows how they were originally assembledRhothgar wrote: 12 Apr 2021, 09:21 Thing is I know how inquisitive you are so have to actually tried to strip one down and was unable to get it back together?
Also, you'll find it a very messy job as the motor will be full of carbon dust from the worn brushes

Re: Xantia HDi Dash Lights
Well. The LH Fan blades are back on and working thanks to admiral51 (Colin).
I had destroyed the LH screw which holds the fan on and he very kindly sent me a replacement.
Rather amusingly, he’d said don’t be surprised if you receive a Xmas card or a with sympathy. Either would have been appropriate.
Instead I got this which was equally amusing.
A BIG THANK YOU! Yet again.
Fans now working as they should until the go totally KAPUT!

Re: Xantia HDi Dash Lights
Glad it is all sorted Roger.
Must confess it was SWMBO who came up with the idea of using a card and an insert to hold the screw so it was just a case of whatever was in the house, now having seen it i think she has a better sense of humour than i give her credit for
And you are most welcome to it Roger

Re: Xantia HDi Dash Lights
Admins.
Could I please have part numbers for the following when you have a moment:-
Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (located in side of engine block)
Cartier Coolant Level Sensor (it'll probably start 1306.??)
External air temp sensor (located in nearside wing mirror)
For Vin VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Still keep getting intermittent light in temperature gauge on dash. Very frustrating as one of the other coolant sensor has gone open circuit or something. No fault codes.
Thanks in advance.
