2009 C5. New owner,some issues

I dont think its any part thats missing. Though there is a washer on the top panel where the oil label is.
Simply a moulded part of some sort that guides the cable.
Typically even on 2nd hand bumpers etc its the bit nobody seems to photograph

Well I'm an absolute plum.
Finally got round to finishing off the dashcam wiring and putting the car back together.
Put the slow opening plunger on the glovebox lid and as I went to put it to the opening my bad knee twinged. I jerked and snapped the plunger legs.
So I need to source a replacement!

While Im on. Something I noticed is my eco mode is quite fierce and cuts in after a couple of minutes of no engine radio use.
I saw reading around its the BSI that controls this vs my old Picassos hard 20 minutes.
The car had a long run 2 days ago (100mile+ mercy food run for a self isolating family member) as I had originally put it down to the car not getting used/charged.
Is this a sign the battery is getting on? Car starts fine.

Battery could be due for replacement but even with a new battery the Eco mode kicking in early is a well known "feature".

Spent a fortune recently so I'll put a battery on the list to do before the cold weather kicks in.
I see I can get a decent 74Ah 750A battery for sub £100

Back to this. Car has had EML permanently lit for some time.
Divorce and crazy work hours has filled my plate but the MOT is looming so needs addressing
Error code p0170 fuel trim bank is present and instantly comes back if the code is cleared. So expect something is needing replaced.
To recap the car has had new electro valve, spark plugs, coil pack and battery. Had the exhaust welded recently at the down pipe which I had hoped might have been the issue but alas no.
Car generally runs fine. Can need a little more clutch/rev control pulling away and had a couple of occasions pulling away from parked when it it died on power but didn't stall. Restart brought it back to life.

Any ideas? Struggling for time from work
to even be able to go somewhere to get codes read TBH

There's not much diagnostic info on the petrol versions of these - just the helpful ' Fuel injection: Malfunction', which isn't much use, so I think you're going to have to get it booked in.

If you haven't time to go from garage to garage, then I suggest you might want to consider booking it in with Citroen, who will be able to provide you with a courtesy car so at least you can get to work - they usually charge you £15 for the insurance - which saves you having to faff about with your own insurance and paying the £25 admin fees which most now charge for changing your policy. That should also cover you against any excess too.

Right. eventually got a diagnostic from a local Citroen specialist garage
Garage suggested 'supermarket ' fuel as the issue. cleared codes and ran an additive
Wasnt fully convinced but car ran and got it through MOT (with £400 in work )
Held of replying here to see how it ran. Been using non supermarket fuel and every 2nd fuel using the posh V power type fuel
Car was running fine till the other night. very cold and car was sluggish to pull away. Next morning same issue. no EML lit yet.
However.......

Though I heard a noise under the bonnet on start up after work on Saturday.
Opened the bonnet and found white powder (very fine talc like) around the cam belt side of the engine.
Im assuming this is indicative of something on its death throes in the cam belt set up and rubbing/disintegrating?

Dont know if that image link is working. Belt I could see didn't look frayed and the powder seems to be coming from the upper area of the head.
Its super fine which made me think of a tensioner type plastic wearing down. The noise I heard on Saturday was a rotational thump from the cam belt cover area but it went away.
My shot knees are horrendous right now so no chance of me doing work on the car.
With Christmas near Im trying to keep going at work as it is.
Think ill take the hit and put it in the garage tomorrow for a check. The water pump (i assume) can be a bit noisy/shooshy at times
Eg at a drive through the acoustics can make it noticeable.

Ok, so that white powder looks like harmless surface oxidation of the aluminium (aluminium oxide), so nothing to worry about.

The best thing you can do is to have a vehicle diagnostic done with Diagbox and see if there are any stored or recurring fault codes. I don't think that has anything to do with poor performance of the vehicle. If it was the head gasket you should get some prior indication of over heating and would see staining around the head.

If you get any fault codes pop them up here along with the VIN of the C5.

Incidentally, you can use the full post editor and attach your images directly on the Forum (preferable) so nobody has to go to a third part site to see them and can maintain focus within the post. I'll convert your image now to make it easier.

I had similar issue once on 2.0 VTS. It was hesitant and jerky at some times only and sent me to limp mode 2 or 3 times. after noticing that usually happened 1 or 2 days after rain I checked cables and found damaged insulation on cable from Crank sensor to ECM. after fixing that no more problems.

I had wondered the same as it seems susceptible to damp weather but can run fine for ages.
Will need to wait until its in the garage or I'm able to bend my leg.
Garage is booked up till next week so I'll just have to rumble on.
