I would concur with Gibbo the resolution centre is very effective but you have to know how to use it, came with experience for me. As for cheapness it is important to me as I am on a state pension, its cheap or nothing, that's probably an exaggeration but it certainly helps with the budget.

Re: Replacement bulbs
Never mind knowing how to use it,1st you have to know it exists - then where to find it. Extraordinary it has it's own site!
Now I am privvy to this previously well kept secret, I'll bear it in mind another time.
I agree price IS an important factor but I value my mental health above saving a few quid & I do find on-line shopping stressful, time consuming (I once proved it was quicker for me to walk to the station, buy a ticket & get back to my desk than it was to get a ticket using 1st Great Western's website) & ultimately unfulfilling.

Re: Replacement bulbs
It's soooo exciting!!!Stars are awarded to eBay members for achieving 10 or more feedback points. Here's what the different stars mean:
Yellow Star (Feedback is 10 to 49) = 10 to 49 points
Blue Star (Feedback is 50 to 99) = 50 to 99 points
Turquoise Star (Feedback is 100 to 499) = 100 to 499 points
Purple Star (Feedback is 500 to 999) = 500 to 999 points
Red Star (Feedback is 1,000 to 4,999) = 1,000 to 4,999 points
Green Star (Feedback is 5,000 to 9,999) = 5,000 to 9,999 points
Yellow Shooting Star (Feedback is 10,000 to 24,999) = 10,000 to 24,999 points
Turquoise Shooting Star (Feedback is 25,000 to 49,999) = 25,000 to 49,999 points
Purple Shooting Star (Feedback is 50,000 to 99,999) = 50,000 to 99,999 points
Red Shooting Star (Feedback is 100,000 or higher) = 100,000 or more points
tip Tip: In most cases, a high feedback rating is a good sign, but you should always check a member's feedback profile to read comments and look for negative remarks.
The star ratings on eBay show off how much positive feedback a seller has received. ... When you get enough points, eBay gives you a star according to this chart: The right column says “Number of ratings,” but it really means, “The number of positive ratings minus the number of negative ratings.”

Re: Replacement bulbs
I'm on 676 positive and have a red star, buys and sells, more buys than sells but the sells have been higher priced items, cars and vintage car parts mainly.

Re: Replacement bulbs
I never knew any of that & now I do, can't say it's improved my life one iota - or, indeed, made any difference to it all. Clearly there is even more to eBay than I could ever have imagined but none of it seems to be of any use, interest or relevance: rather like a cross between Brownie points & Green Shield stamps! (clearly there is some deeper meaning I've totally failed to grasp). As for feedback, I've only tried that once & was told negative feedback wasn't allowed for 5 days (after which if you'd remembered what you were going to do, trawling back through all those e-mails would be too much trouble). I decided after that I'd never bother again - 'til some thoroughly dishonest Chinese outfit asked me for feedback in the middle of a dispute about non-delivery: unbelievable!!!!

Re: Replacement bulbs
The feedback system is very flawed Van, sellers cannot give negative feedback to bad buyers so they often click on the positive button and add negative comments, not permitted but they do it anyway.
So if you just go by the count of positives without reading the comments you can be led astray.
My experiences on both Ebay and Gumtree have all been good with only one exception, I've sold tools and car parts to places all over the world, dismantled and sold all the parts from a Citroen BX mostly to a guy in Dublin who made the trip over to collect them, Reamers and files to a guy in Hungary, Stromberg Carburetter diaphragms to an old guy in the outback of Australia for his aeroplane.
The one exception was from a lady (cough) in Stratford on Avon who bid well over the odds for a second hand Tesco HUDL tablet, paid for it immediately by Paypal then demanded a refund because it had a tiny scratch on the corner of the case. She called me rude names despite me refunding because I asked for the item back.

Re: Replacement bulbs
You can occasionally get those but most of what I sell, which isn't much, is collected from me so the buyer has already approved it.

Re: Replacement bulbs
In fairness most of my purchases have been fine but just recently I've had a run of bad luck, mostly with phones: lies about where they are & delivery dates being a recurring theme.
I only found out by chance that there was feedback on buyers - all seems a bit odd to me. What I don't like is the bad sellers who, somehow, are protected from negative feedback. No wonder they all claim 99.90+% - when all you can do is refuse feedback, which mostly I can't be bothered with anyway. I wouldn't have the hutzpah to demand a refund from a private seller, bit like taking something back to a bootfair stall AND, as I've learned, commercial sellers just ignore complaints. Of course this is equally true of High Street shops, train companies, airlines, travel agents, banks, government departments, just about everybody you have to have any dealings with just to get through life. YES, there are complaints procedures & protection legislation - but I no longer have the stamina - or time - to spent all my non-working, waking hours pursuing these courses.
BUT Gumtree is just weird; I've given up on it, having tried buy stuff a few times - but just never got any response!

Re: Replacement bulbs
Good seller feedback is extrememly important to most bulk sellers. I've left negative or neutral feedback before and been contacted in very short order to offer me a partial refund if I agree to changing my feedback. Needless to say - I didn't change my feedback !

Re: Replacement bulbs
Coincidentally, I mistakenly ordered an item online last week and have since returned it hoping for a refund.
I've since been told this company will fight tooth and nail to deduct P&P (it was free shipping), a restocking fee and will only give store credit that can take up to 45 days.
Just as wel I paid by paypal.
