Milton Keynes is close enough for me...

Still far too far from the sea...

I'll happily stay up north from up north where men wear skirts and women sunbathe in the snow to get clean air and sea views, even if I do get ripped off for postage costs on ebay!

The Riley Club have a simple answer to this. They alternate their National between north and south of the country, and never hold it in the same place.

For the organisers I'm sure it must be simpler to re-book the same site year on year as any support services will be able to be re-booked too and won't be an unknown likely to let them down.
Makes it easier for me to find them too :)

The more adventurous Riley system does sound to be more interesting if somewhat more of a risk.

I'm sure it is easier but the organisers should also take into account the wishes of some of those who can't get to far away places and move it occasionally. Wetherby simply isn't practical for many. Having there and somewhere south on alternate years would be none too difficult.

Whereas Wetherby is just down the road for me (80 miles) the others not so much.
Always bloody cold though. Built on a glacier I suspect.

Wetherby's appalling! When you consider the number of Halls and Mansions run by The National Trust etc,
not only in this area but over the other side of the hill, and we're having our Northern event on the Arctic tundra. :!:

Yep, those wolves and bears are a menace.
Seriously though it is probably economics that drive the choice of venue.

Seems to be plenty of other clubs manage to arrange events like this in the more Southerly parts. I'm unlikely to ever go to Wetherby as it's a 230 mile drive each way for me and I don't camp. Ever.

Appreciate it is a fair treck but by the same token Little Horwood is the same distance for me and wouldn't miss it if I can help it.
Don't camp and can't do hotels/B&B's any more either, more's the pity, used to like the Thrre Horseshoes in Drayton Parslow.
