The suspension did something really strange today. I had the offer of a day in the workshop ('elf 'n safety cover so that one person wasn't left on their own) for today. Ideal opportunity to tackle the outstanding jobs, starting with replacing the auxiliary belt - caught just in time - not been on long but so badly fitted (one V off some of the pulleys and not tensioned correctly) tearing itself to bits. Complete PITA as I'd been warned. Broke my trusty home-made 10mm square wind-back tool so had to make another - didn't take long, but had to walk down to our local ironmonger to buy a 10mm x 60 coach-bolt (shame they don't make HT coach-bolts!).
Anyway, started the engine to check the belt was running smoothly with the VSX still lifted a couple of feet. Retracting front struts reminded me to put the suspension HIGH (so she doesn't squat on the lift arms when lowered) and left the engine running for a few minutes for the new belt to settle. Turned the engine off, checked the belt tension (and auto tensioner); adjusted the hand-brake cables, put the front wheels back on and then lowered her. Nose in air, arse on the deck
Started the engine and after about 30 seconds the back rose. Can't work out why the back had no pressure - the Green Lady has never behaved in such an inelegant manner.
I'd love to come down to one of the meet ups but I'm just not sure this is the car to do it in...iffy gearbox, a slight leak on the top plate of the pressure regulator that could get bad without warning, dodgy coolant tank seam and a few other niggles that murphys law says will bite me if I drive too far from home!
