Thanks Jim, not quite sure what the other comment means. The garage had left sanding dust all over the car, and I was just about to get washed at the car wash, thought my friends and over on Autoshite would appreciate the grubby pics. It's a bit bruised and battered in places, lacquer burnt off and covered 141k engine does not smoke at all, and its 19 honest years old. Many would have scrapped this car and save the gamble risk and hassle. I've given the modest modern classic a chance, just thought I'd come back and share the news and no frills pics as you chaps have been good offering valuable advice and are as keen as I am about keeping modern classics on the road and fit.
