Bet my autobox will last longer than Kowalski's clutch, particularly if he tries to keep up with me...also see "Honest John" on manual Xantia HDI boxes if you want toget depressed.Top gear in auto TRI very tall giving effortless open road work and economy

My older Xantia needed a new clutch after 148k miles not down to the clutch being worn, it was down to the springs on the pressure plate getting themselves out of place, the pressure plate had started coming apart.
Do auto boxes last that long without needing ANY maintenance?

I believe that the 110bhp Hdi has its gearbox in common with the CT, V6 and 2.1 these all have the ML5t box which is cable driven and has a hydro clutch actuator so no snapping clutch cable and the internatls were partly developed by quafe :) so it had better be a good box.

Checking out Quaifes website, they don't do a torque sensing diff for my Xantia....

I wonder whether the ZX BE3 one would fit...

One factor that contributes for a gearbox lifetime will be the use (and abuse) they have.
Automatic boxes won't like sports driving.
Manual gearboxes won't like bad/unprecise operation.
So, I will guess a manual will last more on men's hands, and an auto will last more on women's hands... [:D]

I should think a ZX one would fit certainly the 94 car. How do you know you haven't got one already?
I recon our ZX 1.9D would stall when parking with one of those!
