ZX 16v 168hp x 306 GTI-6

Citroen rocks!! [:D]
The GTI's 6 gearbox only helps in speed "retaking"...
The ZX 16v with 5 speed gearbox is faster in acceleration and also gives more final speed than GTI-6

The 306 S16 is not a GTI-6, its only 155 bhp (not 168) and has the 5 speed gearbox (not 6 speed) like the majority of ZX 16vs.
I'm suprised that the reviewers could tell the difference between the two because they are pretty much the same car, apart from styling.

According to the specs in that review they managed to find an S16 with six speed box...

I thought that we never got the S16 with anything other than 155bhp and 5 speeds over here, I was fairly sure that when the 306 GTI-6 was introduced the differences were the 167bhp and 6 speed gearbox. I could be wrong about this though, you have to remember that the ZX got the 167bhp engine for an extremely limited period, 167 bhp 6 speed S-16s could be as rare (or more rare) than the 167bhp ZXs.

I suspect its just the french name. Ive looked on french ebay and seen zx 16v's and bx's advertised as 16s and I saw a 106 Gti out there this weekend which was badged as a 16S so the S16 above is probably just their name for the gti-6. I belive the 206 gti is called the RC over there for example

in the last photo you can see in specs, both are XU10J4RS (RFS) engine, 167hp...
For some reason, they have put S16, but for us, a GTI-6 [8D]
Note: all 306 6-speed are GTI 167hp!

Yes, even the 106 and 206 GTi's are called S16 in france. The last GTi badged car they had on the continent was the 205, now they are all badges S16, hence the name confusion on the road test.
