1 All Creatures Great and Small
5.Emmerdale
8 Harry Worth
15 The Onedin Line
19 Stingray
20 Thunderbirds
25 Yes Minister

And the entry for F, the Film Programme with Barry Norman posted by Bobins in our A to Z a nice tune and two more versions to try.

The original composer Billy Taylor, played on the TV theme, in a longer version

and Nina Simone with probably the most well known vocal of the tune.

As you know Mick.... Picked this out the other day from the ending of a "Life on Mars" episode.

Sorry I wasn't able to add to the list today, I was otherwise occupied. But I noticed a great omission (well, several actually) and I would like to propose the theme from The Saint. This is the slower 1960s tune, not the jazzed up version introduced when the series turned into colour.

And this one-off variation of the theme tune is interesting especially for its Pink Panther style visuals.

The theme tune was written by Edwin Astley, about whom I may have rhapsodised on here before. I found a celebration of his work in one video a few years ago but can't find it now. The number of theme tunes he produced was incredible.

The BBC produced a programme about Astley, introduced by Jools Holland, in 2001. I contacted the BBC asking if they might consider repeating it sometime and they said they would add it to a list. In the meantime half of the programme is available on YouTube.

Maybe it right to celebrate another unsung hero, of the much loved TV Theme.

Couldn't have named him prior to a little delve today. I had a little ponder coming up with a "U" for my honourable mentions list, even had upstart crow pencilled in before I came up with The Man from UNCLE, definitely a favourite programme for me. I then stumbled across UFO theme by....

Barry Gray https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barry_Gray

and then discovered he was also responsible for other favourites, Stingray, Thunderbirds, Joe 90 etc etc

That was one of the omissions I came up with! But it has to be the first arrangement of the theme, not the second low key version nor the third jazzed up version. Was there a fourth? I don't remember.

I saw a couple of Gray themes posted but I don't think that Thunderbirds was there.

Just to round off the evening (for me at least) have a go at this little quiz. I chose the 60s (there are other decades available as well) as I thought that would get the best response here.

I think that there about eight that I couldn't identify in time. I'm pretty sure at least two of those weren't shown this side of the pond though!

These were the ones I got, plenty I had never heard of...

13
Spoiler: show
bewitched, beverley hill billies, addams family, star trek, twilight zone, dr who, rawhide.
The avengers, bonanza, mission impossible, the virginian , daniel boone, f troop
Those Western Themes reminded me of Alias Smith and Jones which would have made a decent "A" and "Shenandoah" which is a nice emotional Anthem in its own right, so I'm going to dig it out and play it :-D

1 - recognised from thumbnail. (Elizabeth Montgomery).
2 - Clueless.
3 - Picked that up. Horrible.
4 - also this. Only watched for Morticia.
5 - First word. Watched a lot of those.
6 - First few seconds.
7 - Miss. Only saw a couple of those.
8 - Fail
9 - First words, another favourite.
10 - Failed again
12 - Another fail
13 - And another
14 - Hah!
15 - Yep, a couple of seconds
16 - First notes.
17 - fail
18 - Fail
19 - First notes
20 - Recognised the music but never seen it.
21 - Fail
22 - fail
23 - Fail
24 - Fail
25 - Couldn't place it, didn't know it anyway
26 - Nope.
27 - Nope.
28 - Familiar but no
29 - No
30 - No
31 - No
32 - No
33 - No
34 - Yes, despite never having seen it.
35 - No
36 - No
37 - No

The numbering may have gone awry a bit. Never seen the majority of these. Of those that were on I had no interest in them. Especially the American stuff. Other than One Step Beyond, The Twilight Zone and (the other one, I forget the name).
One very memorable episode of one with Jane Asher in it. Only thing I have seen her in and it didn't end well for her.
They only stick in my mind for the female actors other than Rawhide. I was rarely home to watch them anyway.
