Not really going to get anywhere close with X for a bird's name track. So waX Wings are as close as we get

Now the water to my ankles
Now the water to my knees
Think of him all waxy wings
Melted down into the sea

and to round it off Z there is a ZigZag Heron. Close as we'll get

Somewhere in the lyrics is
The hitchhike into Paris
And zigzag by the Seine
The Hollywood moment
I'll never be the same

It's not good but better than zigzag I think.

Yes, I was barrel scraping Paul I do think yours is a better A coup de grâce for the theme :-D

That's a wrap then, thanks to all who joined in or viewed :-D It does make you dig out tracks you wouldn't normally come across or haven't heard for ages. Maybe even a work-out for the Heardles :-D Amongst them the She's Cuckoo was a nicely put together lyrically and did have a lot of birds in it.

Maybe your next thread could be all Gilbert and Sullivan Neil. :) I always thought they were a lot of fun.

I fancy a "Better than the Original" theme. In respect of that can I offer The Animals with House of the Rising Sun?

I have a few other songs/artistes in mind providing I can get a look in again!

I like going back the other way with things that unexpectedly turn out to be covers. A couple of examples put up recently. But if we are going from Animals, Blondie would be a decent choice with Denis, pretty much their breakthrough hit and significant for that, as well as being a decent cover in itself.

Tainted Love by Soft Cell. A classic example.
