Re: Citrojim's Xantia V6, C1 and Activa Tales
Don't worry Alasdair, the Activa will remain on the road in full working order until all parts required for the conversion (engine, gearbox and so on) are all fully refurbished and ready to go/be fitted.
Then, and only then will the Activa come off the road and the conversion proper carried out. Hopefully that will take no longer than a week...

They are pretty much indestructible too. The way shaun treats his and the mileage he does and it has not put a wheel wrong. He goes through front tyres about every 8000 miles, which shows how he drives! I think it was 28000 miles in January when he got it and nudging 50000 now, every one of them driven flat out! They are amazing!

Re: Citrojim's Xantia V6, C1 and Activa Tales
My young'uns had an upgraded clutch fitted at 65k. Ours went after the 3yr lease was up ... hated it, too spartan all round. Got a Hyundai i10 now. Beats the c1 hands down all round. More kit, more comfort, more boot space. Try one sometime. Next lease will be a bigger version cos we'll not be doing too many miles by then. This little car averages 54mpg. Just brilliant. Why i ever poured my cash into the c1 i'll never know.

Re: Citrojim's Xantia V6, C1 and Activa Tales
Gosh Mike, if the i10 is that good that it sees of a C1 then it's got to be an excellent motor indeed..
Well worth a look at I reckon on that basis.
I'll not be though as for the tiny mileage I do the C1 will possibly last me until either it or I fall to bits. I'm likely to be first

Hyundai are seriously good things now... but for me its the little 3cylinder that does it for me.
are the i10s 3 cylinder?
Cant see what more you would want. A c1 rythem has remote cl... leccy windows.. pas .. abs.. cd player with aux input rev counter.. and optional air con which many have. .. its all there for me at least..

Re: Citrojim's Xantia V6, C1 and Activa Tales
The engine in the i10 I had as a rental almost exactly a year ago was an impressive package. Felt seriously well put together, was reasonably comfy and went well. Didn't have the quirkiness of the 107 though. Was well equipped though, remote locking, power windows front and rear, air con, a far better sound system including a usb port, cruise control, trip computer and front fogs.
The only complaint I had was that the engine while it was more than up to the job just lacked any "fizz" for want of a better term. It's a very conventional normally aspirated four pot and just drones away. That for me took a bit of the shine off the driving experience. I'd much rather take the 107 just because it's character makes it a more fun car to drive, and it's rev-happy 3-pot that sounds like a flat six is far more capable of putting a smile on my face.
