Thanks but looks like I will miss out on that Mick. The rather rudimentary infotainment system at Chez Falcon doesn't get Freeview and I would have no idea how to set the video timer to record a programme at 04.20 even if I had. :-D

I've set my rather iffy freeview box to record it. If it works I'll see if I can get it onto a file I can use and then upload it to youtube and post a link. Don't hold your breath but it may work out!! :-D

Would have enjoyed that. I have no Freeview so don't know how I might find it again?

I said my freeview box was iffy!! It turns itself off and back on again at random periods. From the index of that recording attempt you can see I got 6 x 3 minute recordings split by varying 'off' periods. I decided this is the last straw and I have ordered a new box for £30! I will see if I can do something with the bits after the MOT today!!

Having now watched 3 of the clips I did get, I am certain that the programme will be enjoyed by all followers of this thread. To help others find it I can confirm the title is British Railway Journeys S1 E1, not to be confused with Michael Portillo's Great Railway Journeys. :-D

I now have my doubts about it being S1 E1 as was listed in yesterday's Freeview TV guide, as I found another video from the same series labelled S1 E1 but it was about a South Coast railway!!

Sadly I'm afraid the tech has defeated my attempts to get it onto the PC. None of my 3 usb to HDD interfaces recognise the hard drive from the TV box, formatted differently I imagine!! So hopefully they will repeat it at some point when my new box is in place next week and then I'll work out how to archive that to the PC!! I'm not going to put any more effort into this conversion at the moment as it only has a disjointed 18 minutes of footage to view anyway!! :-D

As I mentioned earlier I have now ordered a replacement Freeview recorder and, as some people do not currently have the facility, I thought you may like to have a look at this: :-D

I have just watched the full programme on Amazon Prime and it was very much worth the effort. Some great film and history revealed about the area from Middlesborough down to Whitby and Pickering. Brilliant!!! :-D

Bit of the "The Border Counties Line", from Hexham to Deadwater, at Acomb by the Tyne Waters Meet where the North Tyne and South Tyne meet to form the River Tyne. The railway crossed the River Tyne (only remnants of the bridge remain) just down the line from where the Leaf is on pic 1) and proceeded on the Eastern side of the North Tyne up past Bellingham and Kielder to the Scottish Border.
