No car work at all this weekend. Yesterday was spent doing nothing and that's certainly made today an excellently active day, especially on the karate front.

My ribs seem a lot better after a special warm-up this morning....

The Activa has now been formally put to bed for the winter.. The battery is off and now subject to regular top-up charges in the comfort of my workshop.

It was a nice day yesterday so both the C1 and V6 got a good check-up ready for any bad weather in the next few weeks.

The emphasis is now very much on karate, getting very fluent in the Python programming language and continuing planning and evaluation work to upgrade the forum to the latest version of phpBB. Cars are taking a distinct back seat for winter with essential care only being carried out.

Before doing anything else I have a Christmas cake to ice and a very sweaty karate gi to wash and iron. The last job is fun as the gi is made of 14oz cotton canvas - almost the same material as a convertible car roof is made of - and my iron is barely up to the job...

I shall keep my eyes open for a steam roller then, Jim.

Why is an elephant large, grey and wrinkled?

Have you ever tried to wash, dry and iron an elephant? No. Neither have I!

Send it to the laundry Jim :)

I thought they had all died out but not so it would appear.
I also had a leaflet drop through the door advertising a local ironing service

I think if I asked an ironing service to iron my gi they'd refuse Steve. It's a bit like ironing an old-fashioned tent :rofl2:

The icing is on the cake, the kitchen looks like it's been caught in a blizzard and the cake itself looks like the end result of an effort by drunken apprentice plasterers...

Best bit? Licking out the bowl and eating the left-over marzipan :P

I am so naughty... I must now work it off with a load of karate kata...

I need a new iron. One that's capable of ironing my gi.. My old one definitely isn't

I need to wash my gi regularly as I often return from a good training session dripping wet...

Leave it too long and it starts doing karate techniques all by itself...

It could be worth checking your local laundrettes to see if they are planning on replacing any equipment (such as their irons) in the near future, as they are heavy duty irons.

That's a good thought James. We had one at the end of the road a while back but it closed and the shop is now a plumbers merchants..

The Launderette did ironing as well and had a clever name for a business in Newport Pagnell. They were called 'Ironbridge'

Clever because Newport Pagnell has, just a swallow's flight from my house, the oldest iron bridge in the country still carrying traffic on a classified road. It was built in 1811 and is one of our town treasures...

Bought a new steam iron yesterday. It steams like a 9F climbing Masebury Summit on the old Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway :-D

Happily it also does a reasonably tolerable job of ironing my gi 8-)

Ribs are still a bit achy Elma  Intercostal injuries take weeks and weeks to heal fully but hey, it's just an ache..

The gi will be in use this evening. Last training session of 2014 :( No formal training then until 9th January but we all have a kata to learn and practice to perfection over the beak.. We will be tested first session back - just like school

I always train in a gi, even at home so they see good use at least daily...

Something about the comments you made on ironing the tough uniform, has made me wonder if an iron can be used to cook pappadums between two layers of brown paper...
