It was a really wet morning but it cheered up a treat this afternoon and allowed me to do a bit of car playing...
I did all the normal checks on the V6 and Eyelashes and then got stuck into a gearbox ATF change on a very tidy red V6 Xantia that lives fairly locally.
I did it in my normal way by measuring what came out and adding back in the same amount of new...
I was a bit shocked to see it had red ATF in it
I'm not sure how long it had been in there but the owner showed me the container and it was Dexron IV and although it states it is suitable for LT71141 applications it has no ZF approvals shown on it...
Luckily the car is owned by an old gentleman and does few miles and all of them gentle so hopefully no damage has been done. I've asked him to return soon for a second change.
I've had to bring my Activa down here for a bit as there is a roof tile just above where it is normally parked that is rather precarious and if it falls it would fall straight onto the bonnet.
The tile is being sorted out on Friday.
Gives me an excuse to use the Activa for a few days now... I must look at it as I can smell a bit of a burning smell when the blower is running at full speed.
I find them very difficult to cope with....
