6.01 right now Simon. There are a couple of update patches but I haven't been able to look at those yet

Forget about 6.01, its nearly a year out of date now and 7.xx is much simpler and easier to install than 6.xx was. I'm currently running 7.06 and 7.15 is now available.

Try just 7.02 first, if that works ok there are also the patches to upgrade to 7.15.

For 7.15 yes, for 7.02 you just need 7.02 already patched parts 1 through 3.

Righto, I'll give it a bash and report back. Is it a simple point and click install?

Kinda, you'll need to use winrar to extract the three rar files into an iso image file, then either burn that image to a DVD or mount it using an iso mounting utility like magic disc. (Just extracting the files from the iso image to a directory and running the installer from there will not work) From there you can run the installer, which is pretty much automated and already patched.

Yep mega.co.nz is MUCH faster than the free access to rapid share and other similar file sharing sites

In the word document there is also a link to a youtube clip that shows installation if you get stuck.

Hmm, annoyingly I'm having the same problem again.
I installed it on my desktop (yes I'm still running XP) and it worked fine, but on my laptop it keeps saying that activation failed...

Odd! A few thoughts.

Did you uninstall any previous version, including removing the directories that are left behind after uninstalling ?

Do you have XP Service pack 3 installed ?

What version does it say at the top right during the activation phase, 7.01 or 7.02 ? Manual activation can only take place with version 7.01, the manual activation button was removed in later versions, so the 7.02 already patched installer uses a clever trick - the first time you launch it after installation it will be running 7.01, which gives you an opportunity to activate, however when you exit the program and relaunch it it will automatically update to 7.02, so if you have not activated by that point you will be stuck inactivated on 7.02 with no way to activate and no manual activation button. In that case you need to uninstall and reinstall from scratch to have another chance to activate using 7.01.

Do you have different firewall configurations on the two machines ? The Diagbox installer installs a number of local services that open listening ports for the main Diagbox app to connect to, if these are not allowed by your firewall activation will fail. Usually you'll get prompts during the installation and first launch but if you accidentally said no a previous time your firewall may remember that, or it may be set not to prompt for inbound connections. Try completely disabling your firewall during a fresh install and I think you'll find it will work.

Finally, its a good idea to disable your internet connection on the machine during the install and activation process so it can't accidentally talk to the PSA servers before the local services have a chance to load. (Part of the patching to get Diagbox to work for us is a background service that pretends to be one of the PSA servers to the Diagbox app, if this is not running Diagbox will talk to the real PSA server and realise its not properly activated, once activation is lost a full uninstall and reinstall is required)

If you still have the same problem post a screenshot showing the the issue you're having.

Out of interest I updated my Lexia install from 7.06 to 7.15 today, no problems at all, however both Diagbox and Lexia seem to be much faster now ???

They've both always been kinda sluggish on this machine but they're now both much snappier. I can't be certain if it was the Diagbox update that did it because I also ran some windows updates on the machine, but when was the last time Windows Updates sped something up.

Just curious whether anyone else noticed a speed increase between 7.06 and 7.15 ?

I was on the verge of giving up there for a second.

I nuked Windows firewall, completely uninstalled diagbox and deleted every related file I could find, ran C Cleaner to fix registry issues, restarted, reinstalled....and it didn't work!

After a couple of uninstall and reinstall cycles I tried something weird, I plugged my wifi adapter into the laptop, and all of a sudden it worked. Methinks it needs to detect that there's an internet connection available before the crack works. That or it was all a coincidence.

Either way, doesn't matter, it's installed and all I need to do now is plug it into the car to see if it can read from the CAN bus.

For completeness, I'm running TinyXP on an old IBM thinkpad, which is essentially XP pro SP3 with some of the less useful fat trimmed out and only a few essential programs installed.

Exact same as myself, chlorate!

Only worked (after multiple failed attempts) by having wifi turned back on!

Might prove useful for others. Will get back to you, Mandrake, with how my network behaves with the 7.15 update.
